These are 6 speed transmissions so we might as well use the 6th gear. half the time driving around town I don't even get into 6th cause the speed limit is 45 - 50...such a waste of a gear.

My EB goes into 6th when I exceed 40mph and stay there. When does (speed)the 5.0 shift into 6th?

I've got 5.0 with 3.73 and 18's. I'm happy with it. I fill up like clock work every two weeks. About 20 miles one way to work. Most of it is straight shot at 45-50 mph. Couple steep hills and a few red lights in town. Then driving to store or other things and the weekends..I usually am averaging somewhere in 15-17 mpg depending on how hard I'm driving it. It's a blast to hear that Coyote howl. It pulls great, drives well in town and out. Only thing is on Highway at 70-75 mph rpms are high.. Wouldn't mind another gear or 2 then. Lol.

Same thing,40 empty , around 45 when in tow/haul and 3000 lbs of trailer. 355 with 18" wheels.

To the OP , I would run 355 gears unless you are heavy hauling, the six speed with a low 1st gear makes up for a lot of rear end ratio.

Yea. At 40 for 5.0 too. Wish theyd stay in the gears longer when slowing down tho. Why i like a manual. Id keep it in 6th into town at 25-30 mph too. Not 4th or 5th.

Well, 60-70 miles a day are at 70-80 mph, where 5 a day are <45mph.
Normal towed load would be a rzr on a utility trailer, big load would be a bobcat mini-x. but that is a hardly ever pull. over 90% of my driving will be interstate.

Yea. 70-80 mph my 3.73 are humming around 2500+rpm I think. Still though, that speed my lie-o-meter tells me anywhere around 19-21. I don't know how much of a difference a 3.55 would be. I wouldn't imagine THAT much of a difference. Both my trucks have been 3.73. I tugged a 16ft enclosed car hauler two weeks ago, It did great and told me about 15 mpg going 60 with it.

The 3.55's would handle the trailer & razor just fine and likely the Bobcat mini. I just don't know the weight of that.

From memory and granted Eco's, but at 60 mph on flat ground my 3.73 was at like 1750-1800 RPM, whereas my buddies 3.31 was at 1500 RPM and both being stock.

After the engineer in me started thinking, the 3.73 might be better if i was to put a little bigger tire. that would get you down closer to the 3.55... and still pull good.

would 3.55 be to little gearing with a little oversized tire to still pull?

I got 3.73 for the fact them when i put 33" tires on there ill effectively be lowering to 3.55ish gearing which will be acceptable for loads i pull...i run 1950 at 70 mph and scoshe over 2100 or so rpm at 80

3.73 is definitely the choice to go with if you plan to put a bigger tire. I put 305 70 17s on my Raptor rims and it does great. Wouldn't want a numerically lower gear than that with them.

aeford09...you are a little off there. 3.73s are just under 2k rpms at 70 mph on stock tire. 2500 rpms is around 90 mph.

Now that I put the bigger tires, I am down around 1700 RPMs at 70 mph.
