Gas Mileage?
I have a 2010 Supercrew with the 5.4L....It has about 2500 miles on it...I have been averaging about 12-13 miles per gallon in mostly city driving...I wondered if this would improve when the truck has more miles on it?...someone told me that it does improve after about 5000 miles...just wondered what you guys have experienced.

I have a 2010 Lariat, 5200 miles (ish.. not quite sure!) and I average around 15.5... probably in the 10 - 12 range in town, and 17-20 ish on the hwy...
She's a big, heavy lady. But I sure do love to ride her

I have a 2010 5.4 lariat Screw 4x4 with 3:55 rear and get 12-13 city and 15-16 hwy. 7500 miles to date. I have read other posts with claims of 20mpgs but do not believe it at all. I think what I am getting is the best it will get. I do not have a heavy foot either.

My in dash read-out average is right at 16 at the moment. Last time i did a lot of hwy driving my calculated for the tank was 19. I didn't buy a truck to get good gas mileage though.

Mine around town is 12 to 13 I only have 1300 plus miles from what I'm told the gas in the winter you get less MPG, I don't think your going to see the best until your over 10k that's the way my 2005 was, I took mine on a short trip of lite city and country roads and it was around 18.2 It's nice to get good MPG but I didn't purchase a truck for MPG.

I have a 09 Lariat Screw 5.5 bed, 5.4ltr, 3.73 gears, OEM Ford Bed cap, sliding bed tray, 20" factory wheels, almost 24k on odometer, and I am getting 13.3 around town pretty conistently. Onboard calculator says 14.2 pretty consistently as well. Have not had it on the highway for any length of time yet but hope it's better. My old 84 with 240k and a 5.0 gets better mileage than this tank does, but as said before, sure love the truck!! No one tell my wife this is the MPG this thing gets either!! Maybe the F250 Diesel would have paid for itself over temi in better MPG!

2004 F150 5.4 Lariat 4x2. Got 16 to 18 in town and 21 (sometimes slightly more, best was 23) on the highway with little traffic at 70. Driving smoothly and avoiding unnecessary stop / starts is the trick. If stuck in stop and go traffic the mileage is horrendous.
Also, brakes last forever. Got a 250,000 mile Ranger on its second set of front pads and original pads in back. Even I can not believe that.
Jackie Stewart used to train drivers by putting ***** in a bowl mounted to a vehicles hood. His point was to teach driving smoothly as speed was built up around the course. Makes sense from an efficiency standpoint.

Thanks for all the responses!...I was just hoping it would get a little better after breaking in...you know with gas prices creeping up like they have...I know it's not going to get great gas mileage and I don't expect it...your right though, it's a big vehicle and that's the trade off...I sure do love driving it, so it's worth it!!
