New 2013 truck ...minor issues frustrated/want advice
Hey guys, I bought my truck new from the dealer...its a 2013 STX and I've put just over 10k miles on it. I have a few issues that bug the heck out of me and I want a sounding board. I find it ridiculous that I have this on a new truck. Am i being too picky? Expecting too much? Have the same issues? Or did I get a truck that needs some new parts on it?
Issues:
1) Driver seat squeaks anytime I shift my weight around. Sounds like metal on metal, I believe it to be the frame (back part, not seat part). I had a friend who is a tech listen to it and he said he thought it would warrant a new seat back...
2) Galled/scratched rotors... the truck has less than 10k on it but already the front 2 rotors are scored as though the pad is worn out. Pad has plenty of material, but there are circular wear marks in both rotors...deep enough that I can feel them...did I get a crappy set of pads that galled my rotors?
3) Drivers side window is choppy as it goes down...as you hold down the button (or auto down) there are 3 distinct spots where you hear a thud and the window pauses from going down...as though there are bad teeth on one of the gears?
4) maybe a nit pick? ... BOTH of my front doors (supercab) squeak like crazy when i open or close the door. One seems to be from the little gasket at the top corner (on the hinge side of the door) and one seems to be from the hinge (paint on the pin?) but it's pretty loud...have thought about just ripping the gaskets off but don't know what purpose they serve.
So tell me, are my expectations too high? Is Ford Quality going down the ****ter? or did I get unlucky? I haven't had time to go in for service, but also don't want to be "that guy" when I go in...

Hey buddy, I bought my 13 FX4 new and I had the same squeak you have in the drivers seat. It bugged the heck out of me and it took going back to the dealer twice as the service manager wanted to hear it for himself to diagnose. He heard the squeak and my truck was taken in and they rebuilt the drivers seat, ended up being metal in metal contact with no foam between the metal base and rails?
My rotors are fine, even through my dealer and Ford msinteance plans want to take them apart and "inspect" at every 15000 miles or 30,000km @300,00 extra
Now to the front doors of my superccab yes they squeek and I keep them well lubricated and have thm lubricated every time I get a oil change, helps to keep the squeak down.
I also have a dash cracking sound all the time, were it sounds Like the dash is going to crack apart and it starts from one side and goes to another. Have to take it in for that, just haven't found the time to do so. Also my Audio input doesn't work properly, been through 4 aux cables and my iPhone 4 and IPod classics would only play through one speaker, was told it was my apple products lol, well just bought a iPhone 6 and downloaded my music and same thing so that'll have to be fixed.
Don't forget to check your 3rd brake light, mine was leaky and it was fixed under warranty

The door squeek in supercab has been discussed and fix's have been discussed as well as the dash squeek, I know I had a 2010 Scab with both issues.

I know there's been fixes for the door rattling but havnt found anything for the hinge but I'll search again and see what comes up. As far as my dash making a crackling sound and sounds like it going to crack in half I've searched and Me and another forum member made a thread a while back and nobody else had that issue. We did get FordService involved and they said they would help once we took it in for disgnosis but haven't found the time to take mine in because I need my truck

You list all those issues your truck has, however, there is no mention that you took it back to your dealer to get them fixed. Give your dealer a chance to fix your truck under warranty and go from there.

Not to sure if the above comments are towards me or the OP but I have had everything fixed beside Aux in and Dash Crackling. My dealer is very courtesy and gets everything fixed for me under warranty. I am not bashing my truck nor Ford and this is my first truck and first new vehicle purchase and this does not bother me as I know truck have shimmys, rattles, and squeaks. it's a Truck I get it lol. Just turn the music up and cruise!!!!

Geeze where do I begin...never mind Xanax is in short supply, but you are correct it's a truck. It's not a Lexus nor a Mercedes. Trucks do have their share of squeaks, rattles and shakes. That being said, there are instances of items that are excessive. The "gist" of my comment was before you come here and ask opinions, we know they are like A-holes everyone has one and some stink, take it to the dealer and voice your concerns to him First. Then after you've exhausted that avenue come here and ask for opinions. (Some of which you won't like and some which will play to your sensitive needs).

Then, send me a private message with your full name, VIN, servicing dealership, and best daytime contact number. I'll get this escalated to your regional customer service manager for further assistance.
