Oh boy Ford.....
So I put my truck on my hoist to check out a few different issues that it had as it was going in for warranty work. I made them a list, and here are the results, I won't bother mentioning the things they actually went good for...
I had heard a ticking in the passenger side wheel well area, so I compared it to the driver's side, and it made no noise. The bill stated that they road tested it, and heard nothing, so I got billed for that. I guess they can't or aren't allowed to stick their head in the wheel well area like I advised them I did.
I noticed that since I changed my oil last that I was down approx 1.5ltrs, and my % was at only 44. They told me that they put dye in in it and found no leaks. When I asked if they did a compression test, they did not...but the service advisor did say that I was in my "normal oil consumption range"....HUH????? Can't say I've ever heard of that one!!!
I have a shudder around 8km/hr, The performed tsb 12-7-13 and that didn't fix the problem. The advisor said that that was a normal shake. .
I noticed that my right side cat converter was rattling. I scoped it couldn't hear anything loose. HOWEVER, it was definitely noisy. I admit that it was weird, but I know for sure that it's noisy. So I got billed for that one too.
So I guess that Ford is building trucks that shake and eat oil. That's normal according to them. The bill did state for me to return for an oil change and that they'd do an oil consumption test,,,,
I'm quite discouraged and disappointed. I'm contemplating trading it on on a toyota and that way I just gotta keep a frame under it and I'll be good to go.
Any thoughts? Especially on the oil consumption?? Anyone else have any issues with their cats?
Thanks

According to GM, 1 quart of oil within 2k miles is acceptable. I went through this with my old silverado. It was quite annoying.

I had a 2011 FX4 ecoboost. That POS would stall out every time it rained, shake at certain highway speeds, the power sliding rear window leaked, and had some other minor issues. I was told everything was normal except for the stalling out but they wouldn't do a darn thing for it. Even when the check engine light came on they just cleared it and said they didnt get a clear code reading or some bs. After going to two different dealers for these issues I got rid of it (and I didn't go with another ford) and couldn't be happier.
They make a decent product for the most part but when they don't it really sucks. There is no reason for brand loyalty.

I think ford was running around like chickens with their heads cut off when it came to the condensation/shaking issue. Their flagship truck with its pride and joy motor was having issues and they didnt know how to fix it.
Years later, People have found workaround and fixes.
