Does my 2009 F-150 5.4L XLT SCrew have a fuel shut-off like my 09 Escape? I also sure hope my fuel consumption improves over time, my previous vehilce was an 2002 GMC heavy half 6.0L Crewcab and my fuel millage was always around 20-22 mpg and my shinny Ford does not come close.

Ya' know, with all the fancy new stuff on the '09's, including many changes to the fuel delivery system, for economy sake (see italics below) I am wondering if they have done away with the reset switch, common on previous year trucks/cars, and on the F150 usually at the L or R front kick panel area.

I, too, see nothing in the manual, as it was in previous year's manuals.

My best 'guess' is that it is now integrated automatically within one or more of the various electronic systems of this fantastic new vehicle !!??


....The F-150 also regulates gas consumption by using aggressive deceleration fuel shut-off. The fuel shut-off is automatic and requires no unusual actions from the driver. When the driver releases the accelerator pedal, the system temporarily turns off the fuel. The flow of fuel seamlessly resumes when the truck reaches a low speed or the driver accelerates again.
To prevent engine hesitation normally associated with fuel interruption, Ford's powertrain team developed proprietary software to integrate the technology with the F-150's powertrains....

I thought the manual had mentioned something about a fuel shutoff switch in the 09's as well, but then again maybe what Norcal stated is what I had read... I'll check again.

That is interesting and far better than anything I've ever read reported for that vehicle and motor combo.

My owners manual does not mention a shut off. It only states if your in an accident ,to turn the ignition off and wait one minute and everything is is supossed to reset. At the dealer the salesman said ther is a reset button on the front passengers side near the fuse pannel, I havn't looked for it yet. It might be worth checking it out. Im in Canada so there may be a different requirment for a shut off system.

I think i saw a red button above the fuse panel in the passanger side. I did not press it though.

No red button, nor a fuse panel on the right passenger side of my California emissions rated truck.

In fact, the fuse panel/box is right up front, under the hood.

I am quite certain now, for '09, this feature is integrated within the electronics system, via sensors and the on-board mega-computer.

Are you sure. I have a box in the middle of the hood and one in the right side foot well of the passanger side. You have to remove a trim piece and then there is a cover that u squeze to see the fuses.

You are correct, there is a second fuse box behind the right side kick panel. However, I have examined it closely and there is no "red' button, anywhere under this cover that I can observe.

What I was more certain of, is that the fuel cut off switch (accidents) is now integrated within the vehicle computer system, as I can find no reference to it within the owner manual, as it was for previous model year vehicles.

I checked my truck for the fuel reset on the passengers side and all that is there are fuses, no reset. I believe there is no reset on the 09 F-150, My 09 Escape has the reset in that location.
