Fuel Gauge Calibration

Fuel Gauge Calibration
Is the fuel gauge calibrations computer controlled?
I have owned my truck for a short period, and never drove until the fuel light came on till this week.
I have the window sticker from the truck and it came with a 36 gallon fuel tank yet it only needed 24 gallons when it went empty.
Also notice the fuel needle never really goes all the way to full when I fill it.

I know there's a 5 gallon reserve tank in 36 gal tank. So most you'll probably be able to get is around 30-31 gal.
There are plenty of people who have said that depending on how truck is parked fuel gauge will read wrong. I've had it show half a tank parked uphill only to drive away and it drops to less than 1/4. Maybe something like that happened?
Sorry no answer on the computer controlled portion, don't want to speculate.

There is no calibration, the gauge operates on resistance.

Did you buy your truck new? If not it is possible there was an evap purge valve issue and bent the rods that the fuel pump are mounted by. Mine will not go up past 3/4 now and when my light comes on I still have 1/4 tank.

Who fed you that line of bs? The evap valve (properly called canister purge valve) is outside of the tank, part of the emission control system.

I'm aware
I know very well where it is, as I replaced mine. I am also aware that when mine went bad, it caused negative pressure on my tank and collapsed it partially until I opened the cap and let the pressure equalize. After this my gauge no longer read correctly. So before you start being a smart ***** and getting indignant, know what you are talking about.

Then I imagine you must be quite embarrassed that you did not know what I spoke of.
