nlw_2006, that's just exactly what I was thinking. That's a tough one OP. Keep us updated.

Mines like everyone else's. After the first click, I can't put anymore in the tank.

The tank is not venting air like it's supposed to. The filler neck is an entrance only, air comes out of a separate vent.

Anyone with a diesel SuperDuty is familiar with a similar issue causing the fuel tank to not fill to the top because of a poorly placed vent in the tank causing the pump to cut off prematurely. The mod was called "harpooning". It required dropping the tank, taking out the sending unit, and reaching inside to cut most of the vent tube out.

However it sounds like your vent may be clogged up.

Well I called the dealership and have an appointment on Jan 9 to bring it in for them to fix. I would have it done sooner, but I'm headed out of town for a week. So we'll see what the culprit and fix are then. I'll keep you guys updated with the results. Thanks again for all the responses.

Maybe when the dealership filled up for the first time upon purchase, they may have overfilled it, idk. I just wanted to make sure this isn't normal so that I don't waste my time taking it back to the dealer to get it fixed. Thanks again guys for the responses.
You may have a pinched vent hose and or one of the hoses to the charchol canister. See if their is a small hose that runs up the fuel fill tube and check it for kinks and or it being pinched.

If it does it every time why haven't you just taken it to the dealer? If you can show them and it does it on every pump make them fix it.

It would be one thing of it was intermittent. But constant problems are easy to diagnose.

I got up under the truck and as far as I could see and feel, but the little hose off the side does not appear to be pinched at any place. I would have taken it to the dealer sooner, but I thought I was doing something wrong when trying to fill up. Its my own fault for letting this go this long, but I wanted to be 100% sure something was wrong with the truck before I let the dealer take it for a day or two.

I just can't get over the number of people that have a brand new vehicle and are afraid to take it to the dealer for warranty work. Folks, that is what a warranty is for! Quit the haranguing and get your *ss to the dealer pronto! If it is normal they will tell you!

The reason so many of us are not going to the dealer, is for several reasons. It either just plain old doesn't get fix, and or your told " Thats normal" or the You Broke it, so we're not going to warranty it and or they cause other damage to your vehicle. And they take forever to do the simplet of repairs, and you spend more time at the dealer than is truely needed. Many of us find it easier to try and fix it our selves and avoid the dealer, if possible.

It's pretty amusing that Ford has customer service people surfing these forums, trying to help customers with issue's. Yet in the end they have now true power to help us as customer's. I my self had a warranty repair denied, after the dealer had to send in a photo to Ford for prior approval for a repair. And it was denied, say I caused the dmamge, when in fact the problem was due to a very poor design on Fords part. And I reached out to one of the Ford people on this forum for help. And in the end I found out they have no power to help me with my situation. As the group that made the intial determination to deny coverage on my repair has the final say and they cannot get this deniel overturned and or reveresed.

Let me know what the verdict is from your dealership, LDF150. If you need my assistance, I'll be happy to escalate this up to your regional customer service manager. Just send me a PM with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership; I'll get this into their hands.

Crystal
