Frustrations with BAK and the Roll-X

I think you're right! It gets confusing with some many different types. Mine is the retractable one that goes into a spring loaded magazine. You lose some space in the front which is a drawback. I do however like the way it operates and I can open and close real easy from the tailgate. I also like the look of it…
Bottom line with lots of screwing around I got it to fit nicely and it's completely dry inside as I stated. Sooooooooooooo… not sure I can recommend it for anyone that wants a completely dry cover…. unless they are willing to go beyond a normal install.

If your vendor is saying a G2 is a rolling cover, they are wrong. G2 is a hard folding tonneau cover.

On your link here, click on retractable tonneau covers then click on rollbak.

Keyword is Rollbak.... I didn't realize they had incorporated the G2 name into the Rollbak series. Either way, one is a folding tonneau while the other is a rolling tonneau.
So when you call the vendor you should specify I want the G2 Folding, or the Rollbak G2. Not that hard IMO.
Now as to why they incorporated the G2 name, maybe the two covers use similar materials? painted Aluminum? Or perhaps its just the 2nd generation of those covers.

I bought a Bakflip HD when I bought my truck. I'll never touch another. After only 4 years, cracking rubber, leaking/missing seals, and rusting d-rings....no thanks. For the ~$800 I paid for it, it's never really done it's job.
