Ten years ago I had a focus with terrible hard water spots everywhere...I used CLR from in the green bottle from the grocery store....worked great, just be careful not to get it on the paint, black trim, etc. I don't know if it will hurt that stuff or not, but it worked wonders on the glass.

Use a plastic razer and some glass cleaner?

Perhaps steel wool (if that hasn't already been suggested) just use 0000 (quad 0) - the finest there is. Won't scratch it, but I've never had spots that didn't come off with steel wool.

Use a lube - CLR, invisible glass, vinegar, anything to reduce friction and you shouldn't have any trouble.

I wonder how a Miracle Eraser would work? I know it cleans everything in my house like I've never seen. It does leave a film, and needs to be rinsed clean.
Hate to f-up your windshield, but I'm going to investigate, now that I'm curious.

I've pretty much exhausted all options on our expedition with this issue as well and have come to the conclusion that they are etched too bad. Only thing that really "helped" was a good sealant and rain x over that. It at least helps with visibility when it rains.

Aquapel is 100x what rain-x could ever dream of being.

One application lasts 2-3 years and you don't even need to run the wipers if your going 35mph+ no matter how hard it rains. Nothing, and I mean nothing sticks to the windshield. Its crazy.

Can you tell us where you live so we can avoid that rain you get?

I don't get it?

Does it not rain where youre from?

(No sarcasm)

I mean rain will just bead up and fly off. Its pretty cool. Snow and ice don't stick either.

Just saying. Its better than rain x.

No Touch Auto Glass Stripper is what I have used on some pretty stubborn water spots. Takes some decent elbow grease to do it but worked well
