the pic of the one pad looks like it wore at an angle. Also are the pads definitely moving freely in those clips? I just watched a ford tech video on youtube about brakes hanging up on 2011 and new expolorers and that the aluminum clips get gunked uo with rust and dont let the pads move freely.

You have pad taper, replacing the pads is a good idea.

Just a thought here. I understand that the '11 - '14 pads have to be on the correct side to works properly. Yeah, surprised me too. Could the '09 be the same, and the pads are on wrong?

I was wondering the same thing, if the Ford dealer installed the pads wrong. The pads with the ears on them go on the inside.

Says he has a 2010. And that's exactly why I posted that earlier. Because, I have the same year truck, and I did it myself and had the exact same wear pattern

Well I think I will pull the tires tomorrow and double check they are correct now. Thanks for the tip!

mbullock, You know brother I read your answer, but it didn't sink in my brain you were saying the same thing in different words. My bad, no disrespect meant my friend.

Haha! None taken. I try not to let too much of this forum sink in either

Seeing that the pads are wearing on a taper, the caliper mount could be bent.

Knock on wood, but after I took it apart, cleaned and lubed everything and put it back together the squeak has gone away. It's only been three days and about 400 miles so I want to see what happens after going to/from work all week. So far no brake dust build up, but there has also been a lot of on and off rain too so that might have helped wash it away too.

If I see issues again by the end of the week I will make the third trip back to the dealer.

I don't think the caliper is bent since it was just replaced, not to say the previous one wasn't and the dealer just overlooked the irregular wear pattern on them. I wish I would have known about the tabs on the pads when I took them off to see if the dealer really had them backwards.
