Ok, I get it. I thought that the clamps had to stay on till you got it bolted back in.

Just changed mine today. FWIW I did not have to remove the caliper mount, just the two bolts holding the caliper on. I was not changing my rotors so that might be the difference.

Yes, if you are just changing pads, you don't need to remove the mount.

So far the hawk pads i put in, are just that. Haven't noticed much dust...and zero noise.

I use EBC green stuff pads, my wheels stay pretty clean from dust.

I just ordered ebc greenstuff front and rear from amazon. I wanted the yellow but they say the brake dust is insane with them...
