Default Free Upgrade to Brand New 2011 Ecoboost

Well, I surely do NOt recommend the process, bu I will be getting a free upgrade from my 2010 FX4 BlueSCREW to a brand NEW 2011 identical unit with the Ecoboost V6..thanks to my New Vehicle Insurance protection coverage.. They pay out exactly what I paid for the vehicle plus 5% for inflation...It wasn't a tough decision, a no-brainer in fact, for the wife and I to make the decision to replace like for like, we loved the 2010 ride so much including the HOTTtt color..!!

Short version, last week I entered an downtown intersection going thru a Stopsign and was T-boned in the Passenger side by a Buick Rendezvous SUV. The truck safety features saved me from serious injuries, but it sacrificed its own life and will be written off this week by my insurance company. Didn't take long for the adjuster to run up the repair estimate to well over $23,000

I pulled the trigger this afternoon and placed the replacement order today for a Brand New loaded FX4 Ecoboost including NAV.... should be here in 6 weeks... My bro-in-laaw got his new 2011 Lariat with Eco, and he is getting about 12-13 L/100km average city/highway mileage per tank.. my 5.4 is usually in the 17-21 range

I was sure impressed with the airbag system.. especially the curtain airbags that popped out even before I felt the impact.. The woman driving the Buick SUV sure didn't fare as well as I did... I had to help her out of her vehicle and to lay down on the boulevard to wait for the EMTs... I was concerned her vehicle was starting an electrical fire...They finally took her away to the Hospital to get checked out.. she actually bounced off my truck, off a power pole and then back into me a second time..

Will post pics and keep you posted...

I'm glad you are OK! This sort of thing happens all the time here in Houston and that is one of the many reasons I drive a big truck. In a Drivers Ed class I had years ago the instructor advised the class to drive as big a vehicle as could be afforded - his reasoning was: getting good gas mileage doesn't mean anything if you're dead.

On a lighter note, you will absolutely love your Ecoboost!

Thanks for the EB encouragement, guys...

I've already driven one... Ford came to town with their 2011 truck show, and invited a whole wack of new F150 owners to this demo... we got to drag race them, ask Qs from their tech folks, see cutaways of the new engines and trannies, etc..

it was fun to drag an EB against by BIL... especially when the Ford guy had to come over and tell me to quit brake-standing my truck and smoking the tires.... hehehe I went back to my Stock-car racing days there for a while..!!

I'm not sure I'd characterize that as a free upgrade... but glad both of you are ok.

...that is why I made my gf sell her 2002 Nissan Sentra and bought her the 2011 XLT Screw EB w/ backup camera. San Antonio has some of the worst (and non-insured drivers) in the state.

Glad only your truck gave up the ghost
