That looks like it is not seated correctly on the top mount. We just had a set go out with the same issue.

Do you know if it will seat itself..or does it need to go back?

It may and it may not. As it is a Fox shock, call us tomorrow at your convenience I can explain what you can do.

Had the same issue with mine but both were slightly off center..
I called Fox directly and talked to there Tech department I was assured that once installed they would center them selves..
So proceeded with installing them they did and all went well, 2 months 2500 miles later and all is good...
If your in doubt just call Fox..........

I get to the dealer, and am waiting for the car rental place to show up... service guy comes out says they can't install the rears... bad bushing. least I didn't have to eat the car rental, but now I gotta wait another week

Side note (question) the top of the struts... in the picture they look angled.. is that normal, or are they bent? The top one looks straighter than the bottom one(in picture)

gotcha thanks..I sent pictures to my vendor and there going to talk to fox on Monday. .was it harder with the install..Mine is off about 3/4 of an inch just wondering if that would affect getting it in place..
Here's another picture up close..use the shaft as a straight line..then the angle of the top part jumps out. I'll update when I get more info

Both of mine looks just like that.......
As explained to me by Fox the Spring pocket (the part that has the FOX logo on it) pivots in the taper in the top mounting plate..
If you look at them again you will see that they are 2 separate parts and if you force it hard enough by hand it will move...
Your good to go, install them..
As I said if you or the place you bought them from is in doubt just call Fox...

We will put a Fox Shock in our spring compressor and disassemble it, so you guys can see how it goes together inside their black top mount that you can't see.

That's how mine looked and they mounted up perfectly.

Forgot to put this here... got 1.75" outta the box, left them there and still have 3/4" rake when its parked on level ground
Im still trying to figure out differences in height outta the box.. guessing that 2wd vs 4wd or engines make a difference cause of the weight??
