Fox 2.0 Coilover review
In light of Buellracer's highly positive Fox coilover review, I decided to pull the trigger on a set and try them out. Read on and you'll see why I'm thrilled that I did.
For those that don't know much about the difference between leveling coilovers and standard issue leveling spacers, coilovers use coil spring preload to level the truck, instead of a puck on top of the coilover that raises the height of the entire assembly. In short, the springs are stiffer to make the truck level. On coilovers like the Fox 2.0 and F150lifts line of coilovers (both a very nice product), spring preload is adjustable via a ring that changes where the bottom of the spring perches. Using a spanner wrench, you can adjust spring preload yourself, and that determines your ride height.
Installation of the Fox's was very straight forward, I ended up saving myself $200-$300 in labour and installed them in a friend's garage with standard-issue pneumatic tools in about 2.5 hours. If you've got a jack, jack stands, some sockets, an impact gun and some beer, you can do this sort of thing yourself. Save yourself the labour cost as it's not necessary!
Once everything was buttoned back up, we went for a drive to get lunch. The ride quality of these coilovers is simply amazing. You'd think that with a stiffer spring it'd be choppy. That is simply NOT the case. The smoothness is amazing, but handling and responsiveness are greatly improved on the flip-side. Going into corners is not an ****-puckering experience like it used to be, where the front end would wallow and plow, the Fox's keep the front end flat and composed. It's almost what you might call...fun to drive? Small bumps are no more than a noise now, and expansion joints are handled with ease, without the nauseating wallowy feeling that the stockers had.
One thing I found was that at highway speeds, big, jarring bumps are translated to the cabin a little more harshly than stock, this is likely due to the different lower shock mounts, "heim" joints that are metal and not rubber bushings like stock. I'm sure it will improve slightly as they break in.
Can't remember exact measurements, but the Fox's netted me a hair over 2" of lift, exactly what I was looking for.
Love these coilovers, I highly recommend them to anyone who's looking for a little more sophisticated setup than a standard level kit.

No questions at the moment. Just bookmarking all of the write ups on this setup as I think it'll be my choice of level when it happens. That's still a ways away though as the CFO (wifey) will chit a brick if these were to show up on the door. I likely won't be leveling until I need new shoes on the Plat...which will be a couple years at least.

My review would be exactly like HC's... I put a couple hundred miles on mine and man what an improvement. Even towed a small trailer and ATV for a heavy chunk of it. The control on the road is great and that heavy transfer on large holes has even reduced some, so hopefully it continues to improve
Really like these over OEM suspension with a level

nice review, I too am looking to do the full Fox suspension soon, do you know if the UCA bolts will come out without having to pull the top of the strut out after installing the 2.0's?
It looks like they almost might clear in the pic due to smaller diameter coil-over than stock
