N3UP, I would check your settings in Forscan and increase the timeout to the max. I think that was my issue but I haven't tested it out. The USB connection loads much faster anyway.
Still no luck writing to my ICM.
Set timeout to 99.....no dice.

Chad, what USB interface are you using?
I want to get a USB one, since once I get the RS menus figured out, I'll likely only use it for pulling trouble codes in the future, and the old laptop I'm going to keep for that doesn't have Bluetooth.
I've read on the Forscan forum that some of the cheap ELM clones don't work.
I am handy enough with electronics to modify an ELM for the MSCAN input, but on my truck, I don't see much use for futzing around with the few extra modules that gives access to.

A couple of other things I've noticed, I have the compass, but no setup menu for it. The only compass related things I can change is fixed north or moving north.
The owners manual shows a correction diagram for correction of the magnetic variance, but I don't have the menu to change it.
I don't remember seeing it before I statred exploring with Forscan, so I don't think I somehow deleted it.

The only things I was successful in changing with Forscan was enabling my remote start and fiddling with the DTRL settings, which I restored to asbuilt when I was done playing.

Everytime I changed something on the BCM, my backup camera settings were restored to default (guidelines off, etc). I'm wondering if the remote start settings are actually stored on the BCM.
Maybe we can isolate the lines that get changed for the various settings on the remote start if they are on the BCM.

I used my VX Diag VCMII device that I had for the cheap IDS clone software. It was $100 so it isn't necessarily cheap.

What do you mean by remote start settings? The BCM settings will only enable or disable remote start. The settings themselves are in the ICP. Now, I am sure changing settings in the ICP will tell the HVAC module to run or not and with the timer settings the ICP would direct whatever module to run the vehicle for a certain amount of time.

Forgive me for laughing at the "not cheap" comment but yeah that's barely a drop in the bucket compared to the Bosch made VCMII.

This is the one I have, same one dealers use. https://rotunda.service-solutions.co...?SKU=164-R9805

$1,500.00

My comment was in regards to the cheap ELM and JS devices that most are using. Of course the real deal VCMII is freaking outrageous.

Beaker, which USB interface are you using?
I want to get a USB interface since the Wifi one I'm using is a loaner.

Here's the one I have;

My dad just picked up Snap On's set up. It's got it's own standalone cart and a laser printer. 😳
I picked up a small Lenovo Notebook today. Plan is to see what I can do with it tomorrow. Lots of goodies here!

I also found that you can disable the lamp outage warning for both the front and back turn signals. This gives you the ability to run LED bulbs without resistors...

My truck now has almost fully been turned over to all LED bulbs.

Hey guys, I successfully used Forscan this morning to configure my tire size. I noticed a setting that allows you to enable engine hour meter but I didn't see anything different in the cluster after it was enabled. Has anybody tried this?

But I do see the elusive tank size. I wonder if that will help those who have changed from 26 gal to 36 gal.

FYI, go to the forum where y'all got the original license and just generate a new one with your original info, it will give you a new key and extend it out another 2 months. Just did mine as well as install forscan on my win7 tablet.
