Default Ford techs please step inside

I had tsb 15-0137 done today which relocates the fuel pump fuse and changes the fuse from a small blade fuse to a block looking fuse of the same ramp rating. How does this fix the problem of blowing the fuse when it uses the same amp fuse?

May not be a fuse but replaced with a circuit breaker which will reset by itself after cooling. tha same amp rating was used to protect the wiring and device from over heating and risk of fire.

My thought on this would be the original terminals are too small to be adequate for the current draw rating of the fuse. By making a larger contact path for the same amount of current will reduce heat that causes melted sockets.

I originally had this issue a while back. I changed the fuse and clean the contacts and put a tiny bit of dielectric grease on jt and never had the issue again!

Its only drawing 4.4 amps on my truck at idle, revving it up didn't make much difference either.

Maybe it's the proximity to several loaded fuses in the enclosed fuse box, with no air flow.

I replaced the fuel pump driver module last year during a no start problem. No power at fuel pump, but fuse ok. Haven't relocated fuse yet, but planning on it.

So, this happened to me Xmas eve. Leaving family house and the truck crank but won't start. Was worried about fuel pump problem, and thanks to Google search, saved me a few hundred bucks. F27 was melted all the way on one side. Have the relocation kit on the way, and at the mean time, borrowed a 20 amp baby fuse from the junk drawer.

Okay, fuse relocation complete. The tow was free (i have roadside assistance on my auto insurance policy), shop charged me $43 for the kit and shop fees and $90 for labor. On a hot South Texas day I figure this is a bargain for piece of mind. Although from the instructions in this thread I could have done the work myself, there was no way I was gonna tackle this in the sun on a hot humid day (getting soft in my old age I guess). Although I was tempted to just throw a handful of 20A fuses in the glove box, with my luck it would fail on the freeway during rush hour and create a really dangerous situation so I wasn't tempted for long. Thanks to everyone in here, you guys saved me from the "diagnosis fee"!

Retrofit?

Are you saying you had the Fuse 27 relocation performed?
