4.0 hrs labor from Ford means it will take the tech 2 days SOLID to perform the repair so be prepared to have a loaner or rental lined up before hand.

So will this be the fix if you report fuel in the oil? Seems like a lot of work!

Well, crap! I just installed the thermostat housing heater about 2 months ago. Now it sounds like it calls for a traditional freeze plug block heater. Geez, we now are supposed to plug in at 0°?

Sounds like they are connecting the dots on the whole MPG/slime in the CAC/timing chain wear issue. Knock on wood, my oil level stays right at the full mark.

I'm close to the Continental Divide at about 7000'. It drops below zero more than you would think, at night anyway. At home, the truck is in a 55° garage unless its hooked up to a trailer. At work though, it gets to sit out all night.

I'm scheduled for this TSB along with a couple minor ones (Sync and Keyless Entry Issues) on Wednesday. It will be interesting to see if I actually get the truck back the same day...

My service department tells me that they can't even get the parts to do the work yet so I wouldn't get my hopes up of a quick turnaround. After having my truck for a couple days they gave it back to me untouched and told me they'd call when the parts became available.

Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage And Emissions Warranty Coverage.
Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.

DEALER CODING

BASIC PART NO. CONDITION CODE 6A666 42
It looks like the numbers here didn't display correctly, they are all #1. But as I read it, since my truck doesn't have a thermostat heater and was built after 10/24/11 the steps to take are to install a engine block heater, replace the PCV valve and change oil and filter? (never mind, after renumbering the original post it looks like they will need to do the re-programming as well) I'll update here once the work is completed.

So is the fix there just a replacement PVC and the intent to direct the customer to use the engine block heater?

I wonder if dealerships using 10w20 instead of the 30 is affecting things as well? I've read a few posts of people mentioning the dealerships putting in the wrong oil.

How can I determine if my vehicle is affected by this TSB? How does one know if the vehicle is equipped with a heater in the thermostat housing? Can I tell this visually?
