Issue: Ford Remote Access app review

The Ford Remote Access app is available for both IPhone and Android users to control vehicle features. The app lets you remote start, remote stop, lock, unlock, audible car find, and there is even an optional feature to receive security notifications.

Read to find out more:
  • What, if any, are the costs associated?
  • Do you have to go to the dealer?
  • What hardware is compatible?
  • How well does it work compared with aftermarket devices?
  • What models are compatible?

I basically want the factory remote start settings (defrosters and heated seats in the cold, and AC Seats with max AC in the heat----all automatic by temp), with a plug and play system with great range. Viper does not offer this at all

I agree, and that's why I created my own system using a Viper brain. Basically I cut the 100 series key (built in Fob) apart and wired the buttons to a series of relays. Yes you have to sacrifice a key, but I can carry a two way small fob with a 80 bit SA key. I get all features and have SmartStart.

You have to be fairly good with a soldering iron and wiring some relays! The great part of this system is you only need to connect power, ground, and brake wire (the brake wire is just necessary because the Viper unit really doesn't know it started or didn't)

Here is the original thread of where I did it. If someone wanted some help I would help you out with it.

Also good to hear, and good to know the bidirectional fob part number! Havent seen that one posted anywhere yet, thanks.
Sorry I screwed up the part number for the FOB is 9G1Z-15K601-A. The other part number is for the LED flasher.

It doesn't do that, I meant plug and play add in no cutting and splicing wires. It plugs into the same spot as factory. Not sure why it can't do the auto seats. I have a Platinum so I just leave my climate control on auto and the seats warm up or cool down in a minute after i press the button so it's not a big deal to me. I let mine run 10 or 15 min at least usually so the whole truck is warm or cool before I get in anyway, I rarely use the heated seats anyway.

The factory starter system with my Ford touch is bugged, for starters it only runs 15 minutes (which is fine for gas I guess but I have an f350 diesel) and you can't let it take over while it's running and remove the key, which is a feature i use frequently. Also if I let my factory starter time out and shut off it defaults my climate controls to off when I restart the truck which is &$*@ing annoying as hell. I thought about the factory cell app pretty hard but in the end the loss of features I'm used to that aftermarket offers didn't make it cool enough for me I the end.

I have the 100 series installed from factory on my keyfob.
I am looking for both the 200 series bidirectional 1000ft range AND the remote access system. Is this still possible?

As well...

-Installing the remote access system ontop of just the 100 series system means my factory keyfob remote start buttons CONTINUE to function?

-Installing the 200 series system overtakes the 100 series and means my factory keyfob remote start buttons NO LONGER function?
-Installing both remote access and 200 series overtakes 100 series and again my factory keyfob remote start buttons NO LONGER function?

Basically, the 200 series system's seperate FOB replaces the factory keyfob remote start buttons completely.

Would be nice to have all of the FOBS remain working...but I'll take the 1000ft range over factory fob

Yes this is possible but you would need the long range antenna DA8Z-15603-A so you can have both the Bi-Directional long range and the Remote Access.

Yes the "factory" fob still remains operational so customers who upgrade to the remote access do not lose this functionality.

Here are the parts required to put the Bi-Directional and Remote Access in your Truck:

What keys and fobs did you get when you bought the truck? This would tell us what if any system may already be installed. Also do you have any antenna installed above the windshield rear view mirror?

I can email you instructions for the long range, bi-directional and remote access system which show where the components would install.

I'll take an email of the instructions for installing the parts you mentioned on the last page.
Would you be able to activate the remote access system if I ordered it all and installed it? Or would I need to wait for Zach/get my dealership to activate it?

Actually we have a hosted PDF on our server here http://www.levittownfordsupercenter....10_18_2013.pdf It was too large to add as an attachment.

Sorry we are not able to activate the Remote Access kits.

Thanks for the help Benny.

I got 2 key fobs with the lock, unlock, and remote start buttons. I will look for an antenna but I don't think I noticed one.

I'll pm you my email.

Thanks again
