Could someone that knows whats going on summerize it some?

Basically what is needed to use your phone to start a newer truck? Or how to tell if you already have it?

Unless it's starting me in the face, I doubt I could find the remote start system anyways. Nothing under the seat that looked like it either. I might have to do some more research before I pull the trigger.

Can anyone confirm just where the metal part of the bulkhead is behind the glove box opening? I see nothing where the RMST could be mounted with 3m tape. I put it elsewhere for now but would like to find out where this place is that the instructions point to.

Just returned from the dealer and found out some interesting info. First off my dealer has never done one and didn't know a lot. I called 1-800-FORD-KEY and they helped me out. Looks like there are 2 different RMU systems, DL3Z-19A390-B & -C... the -C is the Canadian Version, - B is US. The -B system will not work in Canada and the -C system will not work in the US. So the unit i got is being returned to Tasca. Even if I had installed the -C version, as soon as I crossed the border into the US, the remote access system would not work, this is what the guy @ FORD KEY tech line told me. Also the Factory remote start (100 series on the key fob) is not compatible with the RMU DL3Z-19A390 (-C or -B). He also said that the DL3Z-19A361-A Security Module is required for install. Looks like Ford is out to lunch on this unit. I'll be looking into Viper or the Audiovox unit now.
Ya this is very concerning.

I called two dealers around me today and they both said they haven't been told anything about it yet and dont even know what part #'s are applicable to it.

But based on your comment:

The 100 series factory RMST unit would need to swapped out with the 200 series: BB5Z-19G364-C ($273.90 from TascaParts).

We would need to also buy the security kit: DL3Z-19A361-A ($152.90 from TascaParts). I think this is just the light to be honest. The 200 series RMST has the shock sensor in it so I don't even know what this part does other than provide an LED light.

Also have to purchase a RMU Unit to communicate via cellular: DL3Z-19A390-C ($297.00 from TascaParts)

So at $725 just in parts alone to get it working, starts to make this whole thing laughable. What a joke. Time to cancel my order of the RMU.

Tasca is out of stock so can't even try it myself at this point. But why can't we just plug it into the 100 series? Has anybody found it to see if the connectors are the same? The manual we are looking at could be just one of many manuals. There may be one out there for installing the system with the factory remote start already in it. This manual seems like it is meant to be installed from scratch. I tried the impact test and my definitely does not have the impact sensor also.

Ya i ordered my RMU Last night and was told this morning it needs to come from Ford first.

No one can give me a straight answer on why it work work with the 100 series, they just say you need a 200. In fact, both dealers i called didn't know squat about anything with this. I am just not about to spend $400 on a part that may or may not work with out more parts and end up paying shipping/duties over and over. If i need to buy multiple parts, i would buy them all at once. Just waiting for a response from Tasca on cancelling my order now.

What gets me is the install PDF's show that you can jumper out the security system, that's fine, but doesn't say whether or not it's a 100 or 200 series they are using. Pretty week on Fords part to make you buy a 200 series that just gives you more range and 2 way notifications in your key fob, just so you can install a cellular connection which does the same thing.

I'm thinking the security system and the 200 series RMST are maybe the same? Don't know exactly but no one at ford seems to know what's going on and what exactly is needed. Called a few electronic shops and can get a viper system with the smart module installed for $600. Comes with 2 key fobs and also the smart start functions. Factory ford start will also still work. Seems like a better route to go until ford figures their s*** out.

The viper one does sound better at this point.

The 200 Series and Security Kit have different part numbers. In the install PDF is shows the optional security kit as just being a LED light that has to be installed somewhere. $160 for an LED is a little ridiculous. I bet the jumper is just there to complete the circuit that the LED would otherwise use.

The shock sensitivity setting is done directly at the RMST so I believe that is the core of the security. Looking at the description of the 200 series RMST, it is supposed to give you all the features of the security system which leads me to believe the $160 is just the light as it's shown in the install pdf. http://www.partscheap.com/2011-2013-...z-19g364-c.htm & http://accessories.ford.com/kit-remote-starter.html

Just as I thought, you also have to pay $49.99/yr USD for the subscription service for it to work.

Ya any time you have a cell connection there will be a fee. I would be ok with the annual fee, especially if the cost of all this stops going up.

The viper has a fee as well but I have heard it was cheaper than $50. The other thing about the fees is that they are not set in stone and almost gauranteed to go up.

At this point, i might just go with a new 200 series RMST and leave it at that. My factory one is crappy and i might as well just start the truck manually as i need to be so close to get it to work anyways. The 200 should at least be a clean pnp swap from the 100.

Considering the fact I might have to remove the factory remote start that came with my Lariat to use the Remote Access app is pretty appalling to me.

And on an entirely different topic... add in the fact I have a GPS Navigation system that won't allow you to manually enter a Latitude/Longitude and I might have to write a letter to Ford. It won't do any good, but it will make me feel better.
