  • What, if any, are the costs associated?
  • Do you have to go to the dealer?

Just saw the Chevy commercial and the software appears the same as the Ford software so I think Chevy with Spindance as well.

That dang commercial that Chevy has of that guy starting his car as he is landing his plane on a snowy runway has got my attention. I really like the idea. I would be the guy that would get one installed....haha call me dumb but seems pretty cool. Especially since you have to be almost line of sight for the key remote to start.

I'm playing with the app on my phone. Pretending my truck is starting, stopping, and locking. Ignorance is bliss

Exactly why I started this thread. I dont take delievery of my Platinum for another few weeks but am thinking that even a basic remote start is going to run me a few hundred bucks. AND I do fly quite a bit with work, so starting my truck from the runway sounds pretty freakin cool.

What kinda of prices have you guys been paying to have FORD install other remote start systems?? (out-the-door pricing)

About $300 plug and play module and then it's on to the dealer where it literally takes them 30 seconds to to program the truck. But they'll want to charge you around $150. Some people have talked them down to $40-$60.

That commercial shows something much more advanced though; even turning on heated seats, setting temperatures in the vehicle. GM has a pretty advanced system like that.

I have a 2013 FX4 with remote start and I have it programed to turn on heated/cooled seats (as necessary) and set temp with the remote start. If this remote app. is using the existing remote start then all of these features would still work. It's not just a bowtie thing.

I wasnt on a tropical vacation but I did remote start my truck from the runway Tuesday night in Chattanooga. The plane was very close to the parking lot as it taxi'd to the terminal so I tried it and bam... worked like a charm... This was with the key fob only.

I felt so cool..
