Where are you located? Do they salt the roads?

From the looks of the rust there had to be tell-tale signs of a rusted area...the paint bubbled with rust underneath it. But more to the point those holes don't look fresh. The areas around the rust (Shiny metal) appear to be from a pressure washer...seriously? a pressure washer?? What ever happened to a garden hose and a sponge! Ford will just claim owner neglect and leave you high and dry. You won't sue Ford because no attorney will look at that and ever take on a giant like Ford for that. Wishful thinking.
As a former Ford service director...I wouldn't touch that. (Read on...)
But here's a recourse if you want to really pursue it. Go to your nearest Ford dealer and tell them you want to open a dialog with the Regional Ford Rep. Have them set you up an appointment to met with him/her and plead your case to them. Short of Ford fixing the damage entirely they may offer you some assistance...honesty I've seen worse things get repaired. Good Luck!!

So if I am looking at the pictures correctly this is the corner of the rear of the cab right before it gets to the bed of the truck?
Like one of the other members asked do you live up north where they put salt on the roads when it snows or do you live off the coast line somewhere near a beach?

Isn't the rust through warranty 6 years? Also, shine a light inside, it looks like that rusted from the inside out. That should be a warranty claim.
Where's the Ford Customer Service rep and why haven't they commented on this thread?

Big Blue Flame!!!
Good information to know, I hand wash my 13 FX4 on a regular basis and know every panel of my truck and noticed my third brake light was leaking also, was filled with insects, dirt water etc, took to my dealer and they replaced the entire third brake light assembly under warranty.

Maybe it's sarcasm but I can't see it. If it's not, I'm glad you aren't a service director anymore. Sorry.

I'd have so much fun with this. I'd start by detailing this truck until it looks perfect other than the corners. Then I'd have some bright vinyl magnet arrows pointing out the problem. Add some large lettering stating warranty denied.
Then I'd take a vacation out to large auto shows in the country driving it around prominent places parking in prominent places to show the perfection of Ford, warranty coverage or lack thereof.
Invite the media to a quick press conference in the auto show parking lot.

All these years go by and Ford still makes brand new trucks with leaking 3rd brake lights and SAT antennas. No wonder it rots from the inside out.
They could fix the design but have chose not to just like they won't resign other parts like exploding rear windows or blend door actuators and HVAC startup/cal routine.
I'd be surprised if any of this is addressed in 2015 model. The product managers are incentivized to use as many existing parts as possible. Got to meet your metrics.
The auto show embarrassment method can be fun and something not easy for them to deal with.
