Ford refusing to warranty cab corners because they would not inspect before warranty
#11
So a little rant agents Ford Customer Service. August 30th, While pressure washing my truck the drivers cab corner literally washes away. All there was left was paint holding the shape of the corner. I checked the passenger side and its was not far behind. I Contacted FORD who was unavailable because of the weekend. So I called a local dealer and reported it. They did not have time to look at it that day (Saturday) and told me to come back on Sept 2nd. Tuesday. So I went in and they took a few pics and sent it to ford. A week later I get a response from the dealer that the claim was denied because the warranty ended on August 31st. I called ford and the first girl was nice but could not fix the issue for me so I asked to speak to a supervisor. She said there was none available and someone would call me within 4 hours. Three days later a supervisor called. Basically called me an ******* for wasting her time with the obvious manufacture defect that allowed water to collect inside the corners. She admitted she had the e-mail and pictures I sent on Saturday which were identical to the ones taken by the dealer. So anyone have some suggestions besides sueing them. Theres no longer just cab corners for the f150. Its the whole door frame at 990 each. For $30 of sheet metal. Dealer thinks arounf 4-6K to do both.

I've noticed on my 2014 sometimes when I go though the carwash on the passenger side rear door that I have water inside the cab. It dose not happen every time. I have an extended cab. I can see it dripping down behind the seat belt also

I strongly recommend checking your 3rd taillight (2 sheet metal screws, Phillips #2), discovered as the leak source earlier in this thread (and in many other similar threads). The lamp assembly is okay, but the factory gasket is a sieve. Water from the roof flows right onto that gasket.
Silicone is an option, but not one I wanted. I opted to for a different assembly which came with an industrial-strength gasket (Recon). Thick, dense, and no-leak ... after nearly 2 years. Replacing the factory gasket with some decent weatherstripping from Lowe's or HD should cost no more than $5-6.
If you do elect to replace that dollar-store sponge, make sure the seam is bottom center.

Drivers side. Its a little hard to see but you can see the rust coming through from the inside above the hole.
Drivers Side. This all looked solid until the pressure washer hit it. Low pressure too.
Passenger side. Rusting through above the hole.
Passenger side
Passenger under side.

Damn. That's pretty bad. You should be able to get it fixed through warranty since they have it documented you sent the pictures before your warranty expiration. I know they'll want out of it by any means though.
