Default Ford OEM Bi-directional Remote start on 2013 XLT

Hi all,

I am wanting to order and install an OEM RMST to my 2013 XLT.

I was wanting a Bi-Directional (start verification through secondary fob), long range (1000ft) unit such as BT4Z19G364a which is only listed as working with 2010-2012 F150 Models.

My question(s):

1. What changed in 2013 that makes this no longer listed as an accessory for 2013-14 model year?

2. Can this unit be installed on a 2013-14? If so, will additional parts be needed (such as VSS module)?

I really don't want the yearly fee associated with the cell phone start option, but it appears as if this is the only OEM option listed which will give me both long range AND verification of start.

Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide. Starting to get cold here in Ohio

Chris

Do you really need 1000ft of range?

This will work with your truck and gives you 300ft

That's the one I have and like because the fob is integrated in the key but it's not bi directional, the only way you can be sure it started is the parking lights will blink and then stay on until the key is turned to run.

I would think the bi directional would work on a 13!

You can get a long range remote start with a separate fob that works from 1000' for the same price as that one posted above.

Ford appears to have discontinued the bidirectional remote start in favor of the version that uses their phone app.

BI directional would be nice. I hate not knowing if it started or not.

Got this "Automate" 2 way remote starter through my Ford dealer for my 2013 It has 1000 meter range. It confirms start with one type of chime and gives start fail with a buzz sound.
I don't know how much they are because it was part of my deal when I bought the truck. But it does have amazing range.

That link is the long range one. Not bidirectional. I have that same kit. You can still find the bidirectional ones on eBay I think but they were like $400 last time I checked a few months ago.
