Ford F-150 Ecoboost problems limp mode and many other issues
http://www.f150forum.com/f38/ford-f-...issues-157704/
ISSUE
Around the 20,000 mile mark, Ford F-150 EcoBoost is having the following problems:
• Engine mis-firing while idle
• Returns to idle when accelerating to merge onto freeway
• Reverse camera issues
• Random check engine light

Potential Cause
• Blown Engine
o To diagnose a potential blown engine, Summertop511 suggests using a compression checker to check cylinder compression. All cylinders should be within 15 psi of eachother, otherwise there is a blown engine possibility.

unless you drained the oil or water you would be there a long time, WOT in neutral will not hurt anything, rev limiter kicks in about less than 3k RPM.

Man this sucks... sorry to hear about this. I suggest PM "gimmie11s" cuz he said the EB are the best f150 out there and are more reliable than any other f150 so I'm sure he can help you with this issue.

I would have agreed with him until the day mine started messing up.

What would he help me with?

Man this is scary. This is my first ford and it is an ecoboost. As of right now it has 8000 miles on it and no problems. I sure hope this does not happen to me. good luck and I hope it all turns out well for you.

Don't sweat it, I am sure there are many good ones for every bad one. Think about have many to-date have been sold and how many have more miles than mine ( I have 38K right now) and have not had an issue. i really just believe I have an issue.

A few weeks after I bought my truck It had a short and they had to replace many modules, replays, and fuses, i cant help but to wonder if all of this is not tied to that.

Subscribed.

Best of luck.

Really disheartening how Ford is treating this as a new Eco Boost owner

if you don't watch any of them i understand but please watch the video "Ecoboost shaking while driving down highway".... The shaking this morning was worse than ever. if it keeps getting worse i am going to find one of those old wooden bead seat covers to massage my back while I am driving. I am just glad i realized that if i down shifted to 5th or 4th it was not as bad...

this was on Friday evening headed home.
this was Saturday morning.
reverse camera was messing up again when i went to the hardware store saturday
this was this morning headed into work.
here it is this morning on the scanner at my work.

That truck doesnt even look remotely safe to drive. I have no idea how Ford hasn't just taken your truck, got you into a new one, and started tearing your truck down to figure out whats going on.

I traded my Eco because of the misfiring issue, but mine never got to that point. Just the shaking, but I never had engine noise like you do. Your truck seems like its not using turbos, and running like it has a 3.5L V6 running on 3 cylinders.

Best of luck to you. This is just unreal that they haven't stepped up for you

It blows my mind, one day I can drive 324 miles and never have a glitch, the next day I cant go 3 before it starts cutting up. Friday, Saturday and this morning it was giving me hell, drove it to lunch, no problem. I guess we will see if I make it home tonight.

It does seem like it could be electrical based on the irratic results. Like even just hitting bumps could be causing something to trip. Either way, thats ridiculous how they dont have you in a new truck or working out a buyback for yours. Something reasonably fair like 10-15 cents a mile to buy your truck back, give you invoice on a new truck along with a good premium care warranty that makes sense for your driving.
