For all the wizards out there the p codes that failed me were p0722 and p0730. Insight?

P0722 means no signal from the OSS (Output Shaft Speed sensor) there is no way in hell you're tires caused that, thats either a bad wire or a bad sensor on the transmission itself.

If you tires were causing any problems you would probably see an ABS light and a Traction control light but i dont see how your tires caused the OSS sensor code....

I mean hell what do I know I just work at a lincoln/mercury dealership

Well, I skimmed through the posts just enough to get the gist of the conversation development. This is why I never add anything outside the specs of anything. If they want to play games, they will, and there is not much you can do about it. I avoid oversized tires for this reason. Advice: always know what your about to do and know the price you might pay if you do such a thing. Being an engineer used to "SPECIFICATIONS" and their requirements, it opened my eyes to making sure I know what I'm getting into if I try to modify even slightly.

I don't believe it's the tires either. I think the people you spoke to are idiots or have been burned in the past. Either way, find someone else to check out your vehicle and don't think it has to be with a dealer. I've been screwed more times with a dealer than I've been with a trustworthy private mechanic. One Ford dealer, with whom I never do business now, tried to get me to rebuild a Ford Winstar motor with 65K miles. The Check Engine light was on and I couldn't get it off by doing my voodoo on it. We were financially strapped and had filed bankruptcy during this time. I let them tow it off and washed my hands free of them. It was already covered under Chapter 7, and after a long unemployment bout on top of my mother and brother's death we needed relief from the stress.

Long story short, find a new dealer that you trust, or ask to talk to someone in charge over these guys heads. Let them know where you stand and if they care, they'll work with you. If not, then you simply may be screwed because they'll put down the situation with the tires as grounds to revoke the warranty. However, don't hesitate to use another dealer to see if they'll work with you for future business.

I am no expert on this but most people replying are making it seem like you drastically changed the specs on your tires, as if you lifted your truck 6" and put 35 tires on it, thus straining your axles and such. Are they reading your post, you went from 275 to 285. Big deal!!! Doesn't matter enough to make a difference.

And as far as mud, come on, get real. You have a 4x4 and you can't get it muddy. Who cares if you went 4-wheeling. You bought a truck not a mini van.

If it was me, I would report that dealership to the BBB, Ford and any other organization you can think of and take you truck elsewhere, these guys are idiots plain and simple. I would be mad as hell.

The oversize tires would definitely not set those codes. However, some serious off road mudding could adversely effect the harness connectors and that could be causing the trouble. At any rate, just clear the damn codes, drive it around for a few days (to complete the OBD monitors) and check it again. Hopefully the codes won't come back. If they do, you have a problem.

Your argument would be valid if every truck that went over factory tire size had the same code thrown. His truck isn't special, it doesn't have sensors from the factory on it that other trucks do not have. If someone can lift their truck to the point to where they can run 37+" tires vs the factory tires and not have a P-Code thrown then this becomes a moot point.

Thanks for everyone's input. My frustrations have just continued to grow. I'm betting the trans codes are a result of the plug on transmission they said was "caked" with mud. They said they were waiting on a "pin" that would be in Mon. The plug has numerous pins similar to plug in for trailer breaks/lights. It wasn't "packed with mud" even when I had the tech show me. I clearly pointed out the rest of the undercarriage does not support there hypothesis. I plan on calling Ford again. I plan on talking to someone above the parts manager whoever that is about this experience. Morrow is part of the Ron Lewis group. (the owner)I'm trying to find a way to contact him directly. This may all turn up to be worthless effort, however I will make it my mission to tell everyone I come in contact with of my experience. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

I'm not buying it. My dealer takes a few brand new trucks has a local shop put a lift and big tires rims, and then sells them off the lot as a new truck. So they can do that, but your dealer can't honor the warranty because you went up 1 tire size. Sounds like chicken poop to me

Call that number. Wait for the prompt to open a service case. Describe everything to them. Explain the situation. Tell them exactly the run-around the dealer is giving you, dealer info, everything. Every last detail. They will send out a field engineer to look at your truck. 99% of the time they will authorize the repair or replacement of the bad parts.

I'm currently going through this myself with my transmission.

If all else fails go to your local news station. Tell them how you're getting screwed by your dealer. Bad press can get you a lot.
