Sounds good man. I am already up to 4 hours and still have the most difficult bit to do yet.

Not soldering anything. I am going connector to connector with no breaks. At the driver mirror, I crimped two wires together in each terminal so that I could make the pigtail connection with no splices. I also pulled the existing wire from pin 6 on the switch, cut the end and then crimped it back together with the my new pigtail wire and slid it back into the connector. Then taped it all up with the stock harness. Looks clean and factory.

The next big pain in the *** besides the connections at the door/cab, will be putting the wire through the loom and boot in the bottom of the door.

Ok. I finally finished the install. Got the wires all the way across and everything is working. Took me probably another 4 hours. But I was super **** about all the wiring and made it look as factory as possible. I even pulled the wiring harnesses out of the doors and tucked all of the wiring into the wire loom and through the boot. Thanks for all of the help fellas.

What type of wire? Will 18 gauge work?

I would do 20 gauge. I did 18 and it was a pain to put the wire into the mirrors even with the connectors. It was a bit too thick. 20 would've been much much easier.

I used 22. Only because I couldn't find any 20-gauge stranded cable. I would use the 20 if you can find it.

Hey KR Kodi - I know this is an OLD thread, don't suppose you have any of these connectors left? I am about to do this mod soon and want the clean look of factory. I have pulled the part number on mouser and they have them in stock, just wondering if you wanted to get rid of any you had laying around? Thanks!

Finally got mine wired up. Went through the door boots and used the connectors. Overall pretty lean and easy installation. Took 2 hours start to finish and I couldn't be happier!

Does anyone know:

If the door harness from a Lariat with the power-fold option is swapped into an XLT *without* the power fold option, does all of the wiring exist on the truck side to make the power fold mirrors work by just swapping the door switch?

I'm curious, as I would love power folding mirrors, but as a mechanic with a specialty in electrical, I refuse to drill through the door connectors to run wiring.

If I has a set of accurate schematics to the Lariat and XLT, I could compare them and figure this out.

Thanks!

I didn't drill through anything. Just fished the wires through the boots on the doors. Not visible at all and completely removable.
