I completed my install yesterday. Had a few issues:
When I pull down on the fold button, they go in (fold). In order to get them to fold out, I have to push up (the opposite). If I hold the button "forward", they will continue to fold forward until they damn near touch the front fenders! As well, I haven't been able to get the ratchet to sync properly. The mirrors work in unison, but they are both "loose". They wobble when you touch them, as if they are not synced. I thought that when I first test wired them that they worked normal ( pull down to fold, pull down again to unfold. what did I screw up?

Only question I really have is.. Is that standard to have to hold the switch down/up to fold/unfold the mirrors, or is that just how it works when you add these to a truck that didn't come with them? On our F250, all you do is flick the switch down to fold or unfold the mirrors.

About to buy some mirrors off of a 2013 platinum.

Just if your truck didn't come with power fold from factory.

Default RE Power Fold

Nope... standard is to just push it once and the mirror memory takes over. You only have to hold when you add them after market to a truck without memory controller.

So why do some people add the power fold relay if it isn't necessary? I read through the thread and didn't find a reason.

Just tried to install the mirrors, I have a 2011 xlt (XTR package AKA lariat chrome package)

Had standard non tow mirrors with side turn signal, auto dim glass power glass heated non power fold.

Followed the instructions provided, they dont fold yet but everything else I had before still works. I used male pin connectors only, the female ones I had are too big (18 gauge wiring with 18-20 gauge connectors).

Im assuming I need smaller female connectors in the pin connector

I've attached a picture to see what side I mean.

ALSO

The side marker lights only come on when I open my door, How do I wire it so they are like running / side clearance lights?

If anyone could shed some light on this I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

My FIL just did this job, and made this post for anyone interested in learning about it. Pat numbers needed and all. Put it all in one spot so future members didn't have to search and read for days on differing threads.

Check a couple pages back from my post around May. The part numbers are there and what I did for marker lights.

Looked up the post, I printed it off but didnt have to proper size female connections, and since the stores closed for the weekend+holiday here I did what I could yesterday, however I'm confused by what you mean with this Cajunsteve7;

"Add one more to each connection for marker light, if you are installing that type of mirror"

Can you clarify for making the clearance light work?

thanks

I meant one more male and female connector at the door jam for the marker light. Both sides.
