You guys are lucky in getting your mirrors working. I have a 2011 Platinum with manual tow mirrors. All of my wires both on the mirror and switch are all used from the factory. Reading other forums, it seems to activate my folding feature, I need to have my DSM (Driver Seat Module) re-programmed to a different VIN that has the power folding feature (Basically, a VIN with non TOW mirrors). This will allow it to use the DSM via the switch to send the signals to pin 6 & 17 on the mirrors to power fold. If I want to bypass all of the memory functions, it can be manually done then.

When you say manual tow mirrors ,you mean manual fold right?
would you mind keeping us(me) posted on how it works?
I have a 2012 platinum with manual fold(tow) and have been following this thread to see what needs to be done.

That's correct. I have power mirrors with manual fold and telescope. I'll be at the dealership tomorrow for them to program my DSM with a different VIN. Hopefully, won't be any issue. Tech said he will do it if Ford authorizes. Service advisor said he doesn't need to ask Ford to get authorization. We'll see tomorrow.

Dropped it off this morning. Service advisor said they "tried" to program the DSM but it didn't. They are waiting on the Ford engineering to get back to them as to why it isn't. Funny, read in another forum they had no problem. I wonder why this tech can't figure it out. Printed everything out to him and even provided 3 VIN numbers to use.

Service advisor is going to try another tech to do it that has more experience with electrical. Won't get to it till Monday. Truck is sitting at the service center.

Called another dealership and that service advisor won't do it.

Thanks donsmar1, m.gil, and everyone else that's contributed - a lot of great info.
I have a 2011 XLT that I'm adding power fold mirrors to (1AAUTO - 1AMRP01124). It currently has power, heated, puddle lamp and turn signals. After opening up the door I found that pin 17 and 6 on the mirror plug are open, but on the switch only pin 4 is open. Pin 6 on the switch has a solid gray wire already attached. Anyone have a pinout (wiring diagram) for the switch. Not sure what the gray wire goes to, or how it interacts with the switch/mirror/relay? Any additional info would be greatly appreciated. Should I pigtail in the wire from pin 7 on the mirror plug to pin 6 on the switch anyway? Really don't want to fry anything.

Edited: There are only 16 terminals on the mirror plug - did you mean 7 and 16???

I'll try and pullup and post some pics I had of a pinout diagram.

Terminals 7 and 16 are for the power fold feature.

If your mirrors don't have power fold, those terminals may be open on your harness plug.

On the passenger side, none of them have auto-dim, and all passenger side standard mirrors (and perhaps tow mirrors prior to the 2013 PowerScope Tow mirrors) have open terminals for 2 and 9. Only the driver's side has the auto-dim feature, so those will be open on the passenger side. The PowerScope mirrors use 2 and 9 on both sides for the power telescoping feature.

.
