It is not designed to fold down. The back slides up when the bottom cushion is folded up, but it does not come loose without being unbolted.

Actually they do fold down. its not easy to do if you aren't familiar with the locking mechanism. when they are folded down, the locking mechanism sticks out the back of the seats and you see the truck metal also. it is not ment for the consumer to fold down. i will post a pic wednesday for you. there is a small latch pin you need to reach to unlock and then you can fold them down.

Kind of figured it was too much of a PITA to go into all that.

Please do post pics...need to see what kind of room (if any) is behind the rear seat.

you can go to my photos and see the driver side seat folded down.

there is a little trick to folding the seats down.
1. hold hand like mine shown in picture and slide hand down behind headrest and feel for the little locking pin. it will be facing the passenger side.
2. use your thumb to find pin and pull up and slightly move seat forward and backward and it should unlock.
3. as soon as it unlocks you have to pull the lever underneath the seat to fold down the seat part and the back will fold down at the same time.
4 to lock seat back, the mechanism needs to match up with part attatched to the truck lock behind the seat. so just tilt both up at the same time and push back on seat back to lock.

you notice in the picture that the seatbelt is in the way when the seats, are folded down. and the latch mechanism on the back of the seat is showing. in my opinion not practical.

wow dude, thanks so much for the info and the pictures! i haven't had a chance to try it yet, but do you think it would be more practical if it's possible to attach a pull (wire or strap or something) to that pin so you don't have to reach back behind every time? can't wait to try it out! for amp installation, that beats the hell out of seat disassembly!
