Default Fold-a-Cover Hard Folding Tonneau - My thoughts

After way too many hours of reading /researching, trying to decide on a cover, I purchased the Fold-a-Cover G4 Elite. IMO there were a few features that I liked better than on some of the other popular covers.

Price of the cover is comparable to others in it's class. I also opted for the Personal Caddy, the custom box that fits behind the cab and is accessible through the the lockable panel that opens behind the cab. I winced at the price of the Caddy, ~ 500 bux, but when it arrived I was pleasantly surprised that is is not just an aluminum box. It's finished nicely, with weather seals and interior plastic panels that give it a nice look and make it functional.

All came in 2 days after ordering, packed very well even though the cover box had taken a normal FedEx beating. Unpacked everything and saw that the fit, finish, and quality looked to be of a very high standard. Started installing last night, will post up my step by step and opinions on that soon.

Never heard of this cover until now. Very nice looking cover, and the caddy looks nice. However, the price for all of it is quite high :/

Yes. The cover itself is comparable to the other folding covers in it's class. I was about to go 9 and change on the Extang Encore but decided on this one for 100 less. The Caddy is expensive but I keep my vehicles a long time and thought it would benefit my usage.

Default Excellent cover

I also have that cover on my '12 Platinum. It holds up quite well. One thing to note though, be sure to use Loktite on the bolts when you install it. I've had one come loose already. Other than that, I love it!

I wonder if I could use the caddy with my Extang tri-fold tonneau? I have been looking for a way to have a box of sorts like the caddy to carry a few necessity's. I currently am using a storage tote for my needs which works, but a caddy like this would be sweet.

I'd have to say probably not. The caddy for the fold-a-cover is integrated into the hardware for the cover so that it all mounts securely. It's actually quite a pain in the to install it.

How big is the personal caddy?

Been looking at this particular cover due to the fiancee wanting a toolbox and I want a tonneau cover so this seems like a good compromise but just want to confirm the caddy is 'big enough'.

Not "personal caddy", but I recommend Rubbermaid Action Packer totes. I own a few different sizes, with the 48 gallon being against bed cab end (secured in place with rubber hook straps). Its lockable and a good value for $77 IMO. Mine is protected by Leer 100XL topper/cap rather than tonneau. Picture available upon request...
