I have my truck I want pretty much ordered but now right before I make the final decision I noticed that there's a flow through console option. Does anyone know if it's available in a FX4 with black cloth? I'm really liking the idea of a steering column mounted shifter rather than the console mounted ones... I've see a photo of it in a lariat or platinum but not sure about a fx4, is it included in some sort of package?

The flow through console (with the captain's chairs) includes the "floor" mounted shifter. I have not personally seen an FX4 with the column shifter, but in theory that is the default setup.

That looks to me like the 40/20/40 split front bench seat. It basically looks exactly like what's in my XL Regular cab, only with cup holders built in and leather.

I think that setup also has air vents for the rear of the cab. That's where the term "Flow Through" comes into play. The air flows through the console into the rear of the cabin.

I have the black cloth and it has the flow through console with shifter. There are air vents on the back. I don't think you can get the FX4 without the center console. That is one of the major differences between the XLT and FX4. Personally, I feel more comfortable with the shifter next to my hand on the console. Plus, there is a ton of storage space in there.

You can get the FX4 with a column shift. I have one now. It is cloth interior. More were made with the floor shift and center console though.

That's interesting...I couldn't find any way to do this when I ordered mine from the factory. I asked MANY people at Ford and was told nope...at least not in 2010. I dislike the center console with a passion, but ordered it anyway as I liked all of the other features of the FX4.

Good luck to you in finding it the way you want. I'm jealous, as that would have made my truck the 10/10 for me instead of 9.5/10.

Yours is an 04, he's looking at the 10. The 09+ does not list that as a possibility. If it's the body, the closest look is an STX, exterior looks the same, except no SCREW. If it's the locker, then you'll have to deal with the console shifter.

It was possible atleast for the 09s I know I test drove a few, with tan and black interior, No center console column shifter. I went with the black, center console/floor shifter. But you cannot get the center console without the floor mounted shifter in the FX4, or I have not run accross from one as of yet.
