Default Fix Slippery Running Board

Truck is 2014 F150 XLT SCREW.
Problem is the running board is very slippery when wet. Is there an aftermarket product or other fix for this? I only need to add grip to the small area where I plant my foot when entering. Will skateboard Grip Tape stay on the factory rubber long enough to be a solution?
Thanks!

The boards have plastic steps not rubber, yes it should last long enough, plenty here have done it.

I swapped mine for the grey FX Boards, (lariat style), and they hold better from design alone. You can always have them bed liner coated to.

Is you running board like this?

I had the same problem, plus the plastic strips were actually snapping off. Go check out those plastic strip replacement prices....

Is that custom? Looks like you would never slip off that!

Yes, I had the ridge straps water jet cut and I welded each strap to the flat stock, bent the flat to the contour of the board, drilled, and powder coated them and bolted them down through the existing tab holes. Three separate step modules per side.

Been running them a year or so and no slipping anymore.

I bought 3M anti skid or stair traction tape at home depot. Bought a new pair of scissors (they will be garbage after cutting this stuff for long). Then I made a template, cut them into angled strips to match the plastic ridges in the running board and applied them on a sunny day after washing the plastic real good. Been holding strong for over a year with only minor wear around the edges beginning to show on the drivers side that takes most of the abuse. Best investment (besides the DZ tailgate assist) I've done. Also, if you don't already have them you should install mud flaps to keep slush from getting kicked up onto the boards and then freezing which is terrible for traction.

problem with the anti-slip tape is that when you do need it, the weather is usually too crappy to install it, and when the weather is nice enough to install, you forget you need it !

(I know that's my problem anyway!) I made some brackets to "extend" the running boards a little further out. It doesnt make them less slippery but does give you a better foot hold on them.
