First oil change 2013 Ecoboost

I think its left over manufacturing lubricant
Manufacturers haven't used ****('Break-in') oil for decades.
With modern computers they're able to engineer-in way better tolerances, thus a lot of manufacturers are even starting off with synthetics now days.
My wife's BMW(s) since at least 2008 haven't called for the first oil change until 13,000 miles +/-. Mind you BMW also includes 'free' service for the first 50,000 miles with every vehicle purchase/lease, so they undoubtedly call for longer intervals than they would if they weren't paying for the services on 'em.

Well, precisely, I think Honda describes it as lubricants from the manufacturing process being left in the crankcase that are helpful in break in, rather than old fashioned "break in oi" per se. That seems plausible. The "flush the iron filings left over from the manufacturing process" OWT, less so.
Don't see how you can go wrong following the manual to the letter.

I waited until 4000 miles to get my first oil change in my 3.7. Back when I got it Dealer said you can treat it like any regular oil change as far as miles but I decided to go ahead and do it at 4k since I had a coupon+rebate for AAA that expired. Cant beat SynBlend change for $16! Now Im on 5k intervals... only 4200 miles to go!
I change my 94 every 3000-3500 miles. But thats only cause its older and I change it myself.

Still haven't done my first on my 12 yet. OLM is down to about 25% and the truck is just shy of 6 months old. I'll get it done at right around the 6 month mark. The truck will have somewhere near 7500 miles at that point.
'break in oil'? Good heavens... Hasn't been such a thing in a looonnngggg time.

Meh
But anyway, back on topic, super early drain of the factory fill to get the "iron filings left over from the manufacturing process" OWT is kinda dumb.
