Finally tried Pennzoil Platinum oil. So far I like it a lot.

If you had substantiated claims based on oil analysis results, then your review might have some merit. But lets face it, you simply started a thread to say you like Pennzoil platinum because it "feels" like your truck is running smoother and better. Lol

I use the oem motorcraft synthetic blend.

It's good stuff. Running it in the F150 and seems to be working great. Didn't pick any MPG's up and it's about as quiet as it was on the dealer swill. But it's a great oil and will serve well in the EB. Have it in the SHO as well for this OCI and it's nearing the 7.5k and still going strong there too.
If you can find the Ultra Platinum that's even better but very hard to find.
For the Purolator fans. Just be aware that they are now Tearolators. There have been many, many documented cases at BITOG of torn elements in Purolators.
For me it's either Motorcraft (also seeing some tears) or Fram Ultra (possibly the best non-crazy-premium filter out there). Even a regular Fram is not as bad as some make them out to be.

When I did my first oil change on my own I tried to find motorcraft synthetic. I went to Walmart, O'Reillys, and auto zone and all I could find was semi-synthetic. So I went with M1. I was tempted to go with Penzoil but opted away from it. Where do people find motorcraft synthetic?

@lizardking419 - not the best deal, but you can find it online easier than in stores, IMO

I don't understand how you can have "good results" with a particular oil or filter.... I mean, if the engine doesn't start to knock or burn oil, I guess those are "good results"? And if an engine has main bearing failure, those would be "bad results" = bad oil/filter I guess? I don't really believe that "oil is oil", but if you follow the correct oil change interval....it kind of is, right?
For example, I ran a Dodge truck for 190k miles with zero engine problems putting fram filters on it and whatever oil was on sale at the parts store. Now I wouldn't use the house brand oil, but i'd use the cheapest name brand dino oil. I changed the oil every 3k miles. I had to remove the intake to replace gaskets at 170k miles, and it was clean as could be underneath the intake. Same thing for the valves and lifters when I replaced the valve cover gaskets. I don't believe for one second that results would have been any better had I run some super synthetic oil. Now if I changed the oil every 7k miles....then, yeah, results would be better with the synthetic and a super heavy duty filter. It seems to me that the type of oil you need depends more on how often you want to change it than anything else. Personally, I prefer a 5k mile dino oil change versus a 10k mile or beyond synthetic oil change.
I don't understand how folks say "brand X" is a good oil, though. I mean how do you know? Just curious.
