Default ok here are some closeups, best I can

welded directly to the A piller, nice job. wasnt gonna move the airbag, wouldnt done any good, cuz too tight and dark to see

I cleaned those cuts up and deepened them a tad for a tight fit, this is a bullydog aftermarket pillar/pod mount.

see how clean that looks.??.. Im debating on when I paint the handle, if I paint?? but maybe slicing that weatherstriping just so it can lay flat

I think back to that huge thread of people complaining about not having a handle. This is the first I've seen it done. Very nice!

That looks pretty good. If you can cleanly cut the weather stripping that's what I'd do. Plastidip might be a viable option, I'd try and get it black one way or another since it really sticks right now.

It does stick out, but

I am worried about that getting blazing hot if its black.

Yea, I always go to a lumber yard to pick up a pizza. Common sense is rewarding.

Very nice job, I wouldn't paint it, i'd wrap it with leather like from a steering wheel cover or something, make it really look oem if you got the same color as the interior trim.

well thank you, yes a ton of Ford owners are disappointed about the no handle driverside, hell I came from 3 diff F250s and all of which had handles both sides, but I had to downgrade then no freakin handle to lift my fat butt in the truck. threw out my shoulder twice doin that funky press lift move over and all of it above my shoulder. I looked at european F150s cuz driver on other side etc, but to no avai... So my gf sweet talked a welder and he took a straight solid stock and went to work, he did a bang-up job too from what I can tell. I cant see the welds and dunno if he added some backing to that pillar behind the welds cuz I can't see em due to the airbag.

Common sense would tell you that just because it's a welding shop doing the work doesn't mean it was welded in. The could have attached it using some sort of fasteners.

I am curious how he reinforced it to the A pillar. If it's just welded directly to the pillar or if he did add the backing plates like you said. Seems like it would be flimsy if it was just welded to the pillar.
