Even if I drop them down they won't have the throw of Rigids but I only wanted to light up right behind and slightly to the sides.

My biggest gripe was it was hard to see using the side mirrors with tinted windows, I hate scraping my tires on curbs! Lol

Thanks guys, for a cheap DIY project it turned out well, but we will see about longevity.

Ok I actually did it. Yes,over the last week or so I read through ALL 135 pages! So please tell the "search" and "look back " police. I think somewhere I saw 1 pic of the grill I have. I have ordered a smittybilt light bar and was going to do PIAA's, kind of like DesertDawgs, but not any more. Tell what you think about mounting a 30 amber driving on the bar and a 30 combo or driving white up high in my grill...been a great thread overall...even with some of the sniping ( kind of entertaining!)

That's exactly what I did - behind the grille.

You wouldn't regret it.

With that grille, I'd be tempted to put a twenty incher vertically at each end of the grille. Unfortunately, I have the XLT "C-clamp grille", and can't do that, so I'm going to end up putting a 30 inch in the bottom grille opening.

I don't think a bar vertically placed is gonna work all that well.... But the 30" will be awesome!

A vertical bar would just light up the sky, it would never do you any good - the aim would be way too high, plus (depending on optics) the beam would be very narrow, it would be like turning a fog light sideways.

If you plan to do a 30 in the *lower* grille opening just know that you'll have to cut the plate pads to make it fit. A 30 is *JUST* a bit too wide to squeeze in - unless you set it back a little, like 5" - but then you couldn't use a wide beam pattern like "driving" because it would be blocked by the pads.

A 20" fits in the lower opening fine with a little trimming, a 30" would need you to pretty much take off the breadboxes completely.

And there's the correction. Lol

Good to know. - so disregard my statement, a 20" would require cutting, a 30 is practically not going to happen.

Haha ya there's so much advice floating around, some of the wrong info finds it's way through the cracks. I may sound like the info police, but I'm the nice police

To reiterate, a 20" E will fit in the lower bumper opening with minor trimming of the bread boxes, and anything up to a 40" will fit behind the grill, but a 30" is the ideal size choice as very little light will be blocked by the grill frame.

IF you have a mesh or other billet grill you can usually do a 40" with good results.
