What did you find out?

I have a 2013 FX2 with the 5.0 and my fan is very loud like yours. I have only had mine a few weeks and it has been doing it since day one. Some times it will quiet down after a minute. I wonder if it has something to do with the AC running at max.

I have the ecoboost and my fan is every bit as loud as that.

Haven't really noticed. Living in San Antonio, it's hotter than Hades around here, so I get in my truck and turn the AC to max, drive where I'm going, and then go straight inside. Took hit to be hanging around outside listening to my truck.

Sorry for the lack of updates.

I took it in to the stealership and they looked at it. They decided to replace the fan to see if that helped. No change. So the second time I brought it in they had three techs go over the engine with a fine tooth comb, as well as consult Ford. The techs could not fine anything wrong with my truck and according to Ford it is normal.

I've confirmed since reading this, at least on my truck, that it's only an issue over 100 degrees. Unfortunately, here in the desert that's every day...

Mine is loud also. I usually remote start it with the AC on since it's in the triple digits here.
Sounds like it's normal.

and, so far, have not gotten past the point that this is some kind of INTENTIONAL change made to the 2013s but it is really annoying and it only happens to change the fan strategy when ambient temps are over 100....works fine below that per my observations.

The dealer folks all just shrug and say the 2013 fans are just noisier, but this programming is WHY.....and it is dumb the way it is carried out....

2013 FX4 w/ EcoBoost here.

I can confirm that the fan kicks into high/ gets really loud only when the outside temps are reading near or over 100 degrees.

The fan in question is in a 2012 5.0 and I didn't notice it running loudly until the temperature rose to above average this past July.
