i dont see a yellow/green in the clip that i pulled (which made dome light go off)
i will probably go get a 12v test light tomorrow and maybe snap some pics of what im seeing. i just really dont want to start stripping wires to test them.
interesting, are the 2012 colours for your truck in your group of wires?? I know the 1 that had been incorrect on mine was actually the same as the 2013 passenger front but the rest were all what the 2012 said...if that makes sense to you lol

i grabbed a test light today, and snapped some pics.

This is the clip that i found in the front passenger kick plate, i pulled it out, dome light goes off. Something strange though, after about 30 seconds of it being disconnected my headlights will turn on.

I used my test light and held it to each pin that i had removed the clip from. the top right (1?) activates with the doors and lock/unlock buttons. so i figured i had the right wire. Then i noticed that my test light has 1 LED on even with dome light off, but when dome light is on (door open) the whole test light goes (5-6 LEDs). the wire is basically half grey half purple in my opinion. Why am i getting a low voltage reading constantly though?? it is the only pin that was affected by dooors opening/closing/lock/unlock. all the rest seemed to have power regardless.

a look at the clip with it still plugged in

Ok so i thought i found the appropriate wire under the front passenger door sill. (perfect to tap into as the wires from the sill are right there) Although still wondering why i had a low voltage reading on my test light at the pin under the kick plate. I disconnected the battery, cut the wire and attempt to wire in the sill. then reconnect the battery. sill doesn't ilumninate.

I check my ground, then i notice tha with the wire cut, and my battery reconnected the dome light is on..... obviously i did not snip the right wire??

looking at them now in the pics i took the 2 wires maybe are different... purple with white stripe maybe, and purple/grey

the wire on the left is the one i was sure was the same wire from the clip. its a slightly bigger wire than the rest.

it almost looks grey with purple stripe here!

looks to be brighter purple with maybe white stripe...

what do you think? about the low voltage reading? did i cut the wrong wire? (i guess i must have since it did not work) what do you see the colors of these wires as?

i didnt even worry about the plug part, I only focused on the door sill wires. I also didnt disconnect the battery. The hot wire on mine was a very thin solid purple, if thats the wire you are looking for then from what I can see none of the pictures above are it. It is hard to see but, I also had the purple/grey wire and about another 2-3 purple wires. It is specifically the thinnest purple wire out of all of them. Assuming you're looking for the same wire

but when i remove that clip the dome light does go off, doesnt that mean it has to be one of them? the top right wire is the one who's pin reacted to the doors/lock unlock the way i wanted it too... why so many purple wires!? lol from another thread i was reading the thin purple iso for the puddle lamps.

Mine had 2 of the thin purple wires, tested them both with the door open. The thinnest one power was lost when the dome lights went out, then power came back when i opened the rear door to make the dome lights come back on. Yes, it should be one of those wires from that plug, did you follow the wire all the way down to ensure it didnt change colour or isn't crimped into a different wire? I never checked if that wire went to the plug on mine I just ensured the light went out. After I hooked up the first one(passenger front) and moved onto the rear door I left the passenger front door open (dome lights on & new door sill light on) began looking for the wire on the rear door. When i noticed the dome lights go out the door sill I hooked up went out as well. I shut the rear door and opened it again and watched the dome light and door sill light both light up together. I did this with all doors multiple times to make sure everything worked (OCD kicked in lol) Mine is a 2012 though, maybe see if you can see the yellow/green wires in the door sill?

and did you just ground to a frame bolt or something? or did you cut into 2 wires. how were u testing the wire? strip some away under the sill and use a light?

Ok, I went bak out to dig into this more. I have now pulled the second hal of the passenger kick plate off, now I can see a green clip... I heard lots of folks mention a green clip. It too shuts off the dome light when pulled. But still not green/yellow wire or thin solid purple. Maybe tomorrow the dealership can help me

cut into two wires, mine came with a ground wire and a hot wire. The ground wire was the thin solid black wire for mine. No didn't strip the wire to test because didn't want to have stripped wires all over the place if i couldn't find it. Stuck a pin into the wires then touched the tester to the pin. My girlfriends dad did a lot of it and I observed, he's way better with electrical stuff than me so I just watched and learned lol. It's actually really easy once you find the wires. We soldered them together by the way..

Ya I would call the local dealer maybe the colours changed in late 2013 assuming that's when yours was made and the original poster has an early 2013 only thing I can assume. Good luck let me know how it goes
