Op i would go ford, but its your choice. If you do go chevy, I believe they have a new engine line up and some other upgrades coming on the 13 model. Might be worth the wait.

I just sold my 2004 Z71 extended cab silverado. I was pretty sure that I wanted a new crew cab Z71 2500HD chevy. When I test drove one I wasn't so impressed with a few things. I drove several of the pre-2010 HDs in the past. The new HD's sit on a different chassis and holy cow do they ride different. The ride is super stiff. Now I know this is a HD truck but so is my buddies 2012 F350 and that thing rides great. The interior felt cheap (mid level trim). But the worst was the mpg's, 12 at best. I wanted a crew cab with a 6.5 bed. Chevy doesn't have it in the 1/2 ton neither does toyota. I drove the F150 and was surprised by how much better it drives. Everything about it seemed better. I drove the tundra also but I really was impressed by the F150. Hopefully the F150 will be as reliable as the Z71 was.
