Not sure about mounting points. I just wonder if getting longer screws and several washers on each to lower them will work.

Happy to see this thread still helping folks!

Very interested to see if dropping them down a bit helps. For me and my wife, it wouldn't. For us, it's not a issue of the bars being too close to the truck from a height perspective, but about of foot space when stepping out of the truck...basically not enough bar to set our feet on.

Post up your findings!

From all the F150s that I have had all the mounting brackets were the same.

volvodoc, I meant that the actual step itself is different than those pictured in this topic to get any measurements to match mine. I will need to drill a extra hole into the bracket so I don't need to drill into the running board itself. Sorry for any confusement, thanks. Will try to get some pictures when ready.

I have a 2014 F-150 XTR and first thing I called the dealer about was how to extend the factory steps. Salesman said he has heard that a lot but Ford has no fix for it.

Has anyone done the one pictured below and could pass on any instructions?

Thanks,

Scott

Try reading the first post in this thread. I'd use 1/4 inch though.

Ok, I have the same issues with exiting my truck, only my heel catches the board and I've nearly busted my azz a few times.

I'm a fabricator and have decide to make a set of brackets to extend the boards. What's the best length to extend the boards and bracket without sticking out too far but still functional? Maybe extend it 1 1/2" - 2" max?

what is the word!?

Also anyone want to sell a set to me?
