Thanks for your help ecopat. I love them. Plus the bonus of door ding protection.
I really liked the look of the truck with them right off but wife and kids would never be able to get in without them.
Of course my wife did not even notice a difference but my kids did.

I love the extended boards, the stock configuration is an accident waiting to happen in anything but perfect conditions. My wife and I both ended up on our *** at least once, and the last thing I need is our "Canadian Grandma" to break a hip trying to get into the truck...
the brackets fixed that! Rain or snow, you can get a sure footing onto the boards.

Old thread I know, but for those of you who have to use flat stock instead of angled stick like the OP, did you stick with 1/8" or did you bump up the thickness to 3/16"? Being flat, I wasn't sure if the 1/8" would flex too much.

If I recall, i went with... I dont remember but it should in one of my posts in this thread. Get the thickest of the 2 if you can. My boards have a little bit of flex, but they havent broken yet!

Well after being frustrated by the problems you are all aware of I finally got off my tuff and made some extension brackets of my own. I have a different mount then the OP so I went with a 1/4" thick by 4" wide steel. I basically duplicated the hole pattern offset by 1" which I thought was the balance of aesthetics and practicality. Milled out the holes and slots, stripped and enamel coated the pieces, drilled the 2 holes in the factory bracket, and reattached the boards with M6 stainless hardware. It has been holding up great, and I weigh in at 200 lbs. Dimensions are below of what I did as well. Hopefully this can help others, just make sure your factory brackets are the same as mine, and I am by no means responsible for anything that happens to you for trying something like this, so make sure you know what you are doing!
Good luck, its definitely worth the time.
