One of the best mods I have seen to date. I hated my factory steps because they are so tight to the body. Steel toe boots would not fit between the body and step. I removed them after busting my *** getting out the truck. Had no steps for a while but after the wife and others complained it was to hard to get in and out i finally bought some AMPs.

I'm going to suggest we do this mod on a friends truck!!

Default running boards

Needed to extend and drop down my running boards to make it easier for wife to get in truck. Cut the brackets in the middle of the slant, and added an aluminum channel 5" x 2" x 2 3/8" long. This dropped the step 2" and brought it out 1". Perfect for wife. Sorry, can't seem to upload pictures.

Every truck or SUV I've seen with AMP steps has one stuck in the down position at one time or another. Might be alright in a warm city environment but in the north where we get cold and snow, they're not worth the money.

Are you sure they weren't the Ford stock ones? Do you have any experience with them personally? They have a 5 year warranty so not too worried. The ones you saw were probably the Ford ones which I know are Amp ones licensed to Ford but whatever. Many on here from Canada report highly on the Amp's. Canada gets a lot more snow than us up in the north.

A little maintenance goes a long way. Mine have only been on for a few weeks but have gone through snow and crud with temps down into the single digits and they work great.

You need to clean the hinge mechanism every once in awhile.

I am in Canada. Northern Alberta. I don't have any person experience with them however I know they are not stock Ford ones because I've seen the stuck boards on Chevs, GMC, Cadillac, you name it. They do look good but I just don't like the issues I have seen with them plus what others have said about the extra protection that the stock boards provide against rocks.

I hear ya. I am in the snow belt in Michigan with the lake effect snow crap. Certainly not as cold as you. I personally have never seen one stuck down. I have read about it on here though. I am still getting them. I hate how snow builds up on the stock steps. It is a safety issue as far as I am concerned. I just got done running an errand and almost fell on my as$ because of the snow and the closeness of the step. The Amp ones go up so no chance of snow build up. Plus it is a more even step into the cab. All that really matters is if you are happy with your truck.

You'll love them. Soooooo much better than OEM or the N-Fabs.

The first snow and ice we had with them in the truck was nice as there was no snow or ice on them.
