why not just put spacers under the bracket to move the boards down some? Might need a longer bolt, but...

the bracket is attached vertically to the truck, and they're curved, so you couldn't just use a straight spacer and drill 2 holes in it...

looking forward to see if this works--i tell you, there's $ to be made in this!

You could use two pieces of flat stock and sandwich the running board bracket and body mount in between them. That would drop it and inch, keep it sturdy, and avoid it sticking out too wouldn't it?

Ive fallen on my *** a few times too. I want to do something too, but don't want them to stick out farther than the wheels do.

^ they definitely stick out farther than the wheels but not past the mirrors
I think it's about 2" further out than stock, you can definitely notice the difference from the front / back (looking at the truck), but more importantly you can notice the difference by not ending up on your ***** when it's slippery!

Get the Amp Research retracting boards. That's what I am going to do. Autoplicity on here has them for $931 and Amp Research is doing a $100 rebate in February. $831 shipped and they are really nice.

I was gonna do that but ultimately I decided that the door ding protection and blocking mud/slush from flinging up the sides of my truck covering the side Windows that the stationary boards offer was better so I extended them out and all problems were solved.
