Default Exploding rear window

2010 XLT Same thing happened to me. Turned defrost on for about 10 minutes on a somewhat cool/foggy morning. Drove home only to get in my truck an hour later to find my rear glass shattered (passenger side). Called Ford and created a case on it. Also contacted Highway Transportation Safety Admin and logged it with them as well. While researching on HTSA website out of 5 complaints filed, 3 were for broken passenger slider windows. Hmmm how ironic. I believe Ford knows there's an issue but doesn't want to recall it. Just glad no one has been injured.

It happened to me this morning on my 2011. I heard a huge bang, pulled over and notice it shattered. My rear window is a defrosted power slider. My truck has 50,000 miles on it so it is out of the warrenty period. However if Ford does not fix it, I will be searching for a new rig. There is no reason why they shouldnt be taking responsibility for this issue. I love Ford trucks, but I dont feel like they stand behind them like they should.

I think this is the first "non-2010" truck I've read this happening to. Ford really should fix this issue for the model years affected. Mine remains disconnected.

My 2011 F150 did it three weeks ago. Took it in to Denny Andrews Ford in Edmonton (Alberta, Canada). They took pictures, sent it off to Ford and it was approved under Warranty the next day. I was lucky... I was at 58,900 KM and the Bumper to Bumper Warranty is 60,000. In reality it is a factory defect... there should at least be a TSB out on it but there isn't.

Happened to my 2012 XTR F-150 about 2 months ago. Took it into Heartland Ford in Fort Saskatchewan and was told that glass is only covered for 1 year or 20,000 kms, to bad so sad nothing we can do for you. Contacted the Ford folks that monitor these boards and they arranged Heartland to have another look at it and they then agreed it was a defroster issue, not a glass issue and window was replaced under warranty.

Subscribing... The other morning I noticed this after 10 minutes of running with the remote start. Aside from one line being out, it seems like the left side must be warmer.

Add me to the list. 2010 FX4. Was told by dealer it wasnt covered and was referred to a local glass shop. The told me that my truck was the 37th they had fixed due to the rear window exploding since December.

How much did they quote you to replace it?
