Default Enabling DRLs on 2013 FX4 causes interior lights to flash?

Was at the dealer today checking out what could be my new 2013 FX4 and asked them to enable the DRLs as pat of the deal. They found it in the system and enabled and once they disconnected the interior lights started flashing on and off!

They said they did one not too long ago and it worked fine, but for some reason this one (build date 12/12) is doing this?

They have a call in to Ford Technical but I'm not feeling really too confident at this point; I really like having them enabled and the fact that another I looked at last weekend (9/12) they had no problem doing it.

ANyone with real expericence with this? They said a place in town could do it with aftermarket but I'd really rather not go that route in a new truck.

** UPDATE** Ford tech showed them a 2nd way required on some builds of F150 for '13. Apparently two ways to do it.

I just brought my truck in this morning to have it done (along with a recall for PCM reprogramming) and my interior lights are flashing....

They don't even know how to turn it off now, and sent me on my way with lights still flashing. Actually, they said that I should be able to turn on the truck with my second key and that it should fix it....didn't sound too promising though.

I'm so fed up from my visits to Ford's service department right now that I'm about ready to ditch this truck....

It's the technician mistakenly turning on the Disco Rave Lights by mistake.

Haha, well it looks like I'll be living with my Disco Rave Lights for a few days now! I tried the second key in the ignition and actuated locks like they said (and any number of other combinations I can think of). Called the dealership, and they said that the earliest they can get me in is Monday! So now, I basically cant my drive my truck at night for a five days.

I may just be saying this since I'm a bit pissed off right now, but I'm seriously thinking about seeing what Toyota will give me for this thing. I really like the truck, but I have yet to have a single good customer service experience with Ford at this point.

Is there another dealership available? Have you received any customer care surveys since you've had your truck in? Ford (Corporate) cannot fix a problem with poor customer service if they don't know they have one.

You could also try to connect with Crystal by sending her a PM. Provide her with some information and she should be able to provide some assistance. FordService

Yeah that problem was straightened out on the Monday I brought it in. They had to call the help line and use my 2nd key to get it straightened out.

I have yet to receive a customer care survey through Ford. That was actually the 2nd dealer in my area I tried...the 1st one was even worse. That being said, they did get the problem straightened out so I guess that wasn't all bad. Really, I'm happy as long as the dealer gets the problem straightened out and doesn't mess anything up on my truck. I'm reluctant to take my truck in for anything due to the dealer I bought it from....seems that they damaged more stuff up than they fixed. They actually damaged things while trying to fix things they had previously damaged!

Had a dealership in my area that was bad enough, they came in and removed leadership and started over. Service at this dealership has dramatically improved in the last few years. Glad they got it together and I hope that they stop creating additional problems. Had a guy screw up my last truck, lets just say that shortly after I finally got it fixed, this person didn't have a job anymore. He had a string of things before mine...they put almost $3K into my truck to fix it.

I'm glad to see everything worked out, KP Texan. Feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance in the future; I can also document feedback about your experiences with any Ford Dealership. Just PM me with your full name, best daytime phone number, dealer info, and any details you'd like to include; I'll do the rest.

Hey Crystal, I'd like to say that charging someone $100 to enabled DRLs is freakin' ludicrous. I know that's a decision the dealers make, but still, it's bull crap. It takes longer to pull the truck into a bay than it does to actually reprogram the LCM.

We're Ford customers, and we shouldn't be raked over the coals for something this easy to do, not to mention safety-related. I'd rather buy the programmer itself than give Ford money to do this for me.
