Default Curious how many miles people getting out of their 5.0 coyotes?

Hello
New to the forum. Curious how many miles people are getting out of the engines. I bought a 2012 with little over 130k about year ago. Now at 164k and having the dreaded ping tick knock noise. I have the complete service records on the truck. Just basic maintenance has been done. And I been changing oil every 4500k. The truck been good to me so far.

Is there anyone here reach the 200k plus on these 5.0's ? Reasons I ask I had 06 with the 5.4 and before trading for a 13. I had 240k on it. Never give me a problem except the cam phaser tick. Is this engine worth the cost.

Well, you'll probably only get another 200k out of that engine, now that it's making a slight ticking noise.

I doubt that will happen. The noise is interrnal in the engine checked with a stethoscope. Sounds like a predention ping. Has anyone reached the 300k mark? I seen 5.4 with over 300k with original equipment.

400k. Have owned several with 200-300k as well. All ticked and knocked and not one let me down. How’s the oil level in between changes? It will start to burn a little as it gets up there. You using 5w-20 or 30?

5.0 and 6.2 are the greatest engines to come out of the blue oval.

I have very little oil consumption. That is a relief to hear. But driving a pinging knocking engine is an embarrassment.

I agree completely, they are both fantastic. I wish Ford would just give up on the Ecoboost garbage and focus more on this engine type.

They'll be moving away from the 5.0, 6.2, and anything with 8 cylinders in the coming years. You can thank the EPA and Cafe regs for that.

I don't know, rumor has it there is a 7.3L pushrod V8 coming from Ford in the near future.

Even if rumors from bs clickbait websites were true, 3/4+ ton trucks are going to be exempt....which is where the 7.3 would be going.

Then 3/4+ ton trucks will be the only ones worth buying.
