Why does an ecoboost truck have smaller fuel capacity?
I have had a 2009, 2010, and considering an 2011 EB... just wondering why one the the greatest features - that being fuel capacity - takes such a hit if you want the Ecoboost engine? Almost 40 litres (10 gallons)? There has to be a reason...but why?

if they left the 135L fuel tank in the EB, just think of the bragging rights they could have?! Everyone says how they can get 1000km out of a tank of diesel in a tdi jetta... you could get alot more than that if the EB had 135L fueltank. I hope the engineer's smarten up and this nice option comes back.
I went to an F250 this yr with a smaller tank then my two previous F150's, and I hate it! Have to fuel up every 2nd day (combination of brutal economy from the 6.2L, and the smaller tank). I miss the large capacity.

Hopefully the 36 gallon tank can be swapped in without too many modifications.

I am sure the aftermarket will have takes ready to put in!

As I opined in another thread on a connected issue; my guess is they do this with intent, to slowly feed out enhanced features over a couple, or more, model years.
So, the new EB engine debuts in mid-season 2011, with a lot of hype and anticipation, and then they hold back the ability to burn E85, and only let you have the smaller fuel tank; then, most likely next year, with the 2012 model, they give you E85 Flex-Fuel and the 36 gal. tank option, etc. and maybe change the skin a little, so those who bought a 2011 model, and have the money, will trade in to have the some more features which may be important to them. I can't turn my '09 for at least another year anyway, as I have a 48 month contract, with real low interest; whereby I would lose too much.
