Electronic Locking Axle. How does it work ?
#41
So let me get this right. When you switch into to 4wd is the rear end a limited slip just like if you didn't buy a electronic lock but when you pull out the **** it locks both rear axles up to a certain mph then above that speed it is limited switch and if you slow down below that set speed it locks again?
How does it work on 15/16 models?

On my '13 the ELocker switch is where the 4x4 switch would be, you just pull the **** out instead of rotating it.

The traction control system makes it behave like a limited slip by applying brake to the spinning wheel, forcing torque to the wheel with traction.
The spinning wheel portion of the traction control system cannot be de-activated. When you disable traction control, you are just disabling the function where the system overrides driver throttle input to reduce wheel spin. (Which will scare the crap out of you the first time...ask me how I know.)
On the newer years, the E-locker can be activated in 2WD, you just pull the **** out. (I have a 13 XLT 4X4)
I was skeptical about the traction control, since my 3 trucks have all had LS, but it really does work.
