The Electronic Locking Axle (3.73 ratio) on a 2012 F150 (that I have on order).

Does it lock when it detect wheel spin ? Or do you have to push a button or somehow manually engage the electronic lock ?

All you do is pull out on the 4wd drive switch and the rear tires are locked up. Both rear wheels turn at the same speed. Just do a YouTube search on elocker or Arb locker.

And it has to be in 4WD on non-Raptor models.

On the 2012 F150's the electronic locker is an option for 2wd vehicles too - how is it engaged on the 4x2's?

I'd assume that it's engaged with a switch as well. Make no mistake, the locker is for badass off road situations at a slow speed. That's why it is typically used in 4lo on a 4x4. And it is not for snow.

I have a 2011 FX4, for the e locker to work you have to be in 4 wheel drive, it doesn't matter high or low. Then you pull out the button and it applies the e locker to the rear wheels. When you don't need it any more just push the button back in.

Open differential till pulling the switch out in 4 high or 4 low, up to about 30 mph that is.

On the 2012's it works in 2wd models or 4wd models on all trim levels.
