Default Electronic Diff Lock Questions

I just bought a '10 F150 FX4 and am wondering why the electronic locking differential is not available for the 2 wheel drive mode. I test drove a Raptor before buying this truck and you are able to pull the locker switch in 2X mode on it. I am thinking the switch detent that keeps it from being pulled out in 2X mode could be removed or the switch replaced with one from a Raptor. Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions?

Well, I can understand why as the general public probably isn't used to a real tight limited slip/posi or locker in the wet, snow and ice. As most of us know, it can really kick out on you if not in 4wd, but interesting you said the Raptor does allow the 2wd engagement.

I have searched all over too as I'd like to have this ability but not quite ready to take apart the factory switch to see if I can get it to work by manipulating the switch. Not to mention even if you can, you may not be able to get by the computer controls of limiting of speed, etc.

Bump for you though!

k, I looked into it a little while back and I found that manufacturer of our locker sells it independently, so you can order the wireing kit comes with instructions and all to install it, that way you can use it however, you would like to up to 100mph if you want. Who makes our locker again, drawing a total blank?

well they have a wireing kit for the same locker we have and it provides all wire, switches and instructions to install on the F150. That is best bet for bypassing the stock crappy operation. You can Bypass the computer and wheel speed sensors to make it lock when you flip the switch.

The 2011 superduty's also have the ability to use the locker in 2wd.
